Because the speakers deliver the sound in an advanced way at ear level, the organ sounds merge with the space in which the organ is located - just like with the original pipe organ. DYNAMIC STOPLIST

The Johannus LiVE 2T is a high-quality digital organ equipped with a standard stoplist. The 2T features 44 stops, However, there is something extraordinary about these stoplists. Although they’re physically static, they’re dynamic in their use. The stop tabs interpret the dynamic stoplists, which change according to the pipe organ selected. For example, the Principal 8’ stop tab can represent both the Diapason 8’ of the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Notre-Dame in Paris, and the Principal 8’ of the Bätz organ in the Dom Church in Utrecht.

CROSS-SECTION OF INTERNATIONAL PIPE ORGANS

The fixed stoplist was developed based on a sophisticated cross-section made by Johannus of pipe organs around the world. To put it simply: we analyzed the stoplists of dozens of international pipe organs and noted which stops occurred most frequently among these organs. These included stops such as the Principal 8’, the Flute 4’ and the Trumpet 8’. We subsequently gave these stops a place in the standard stoplist of the Johannus LiVE 2T. The names of these stops are on the illuminated stop tabs.

AUTHENTIC, PROFESSIONAL RECORDINGS

You can upload the sample sets for dozens of international pipe organs on the Johannus LiVE 2T. Special sample sets have been developed for this purpose. The sample sets are uploaded into the digital organ using a USB stick. Each USB stick contains the authentic, professional recordings of a specific international pipe organ. These sample sets contain a large number of unique stops for these organs. A number of selected stops from the very large Johannus sample database have also been added. The result is that each sample set for the Johannus LiVE 2T contains exactly 44 stops. Most of these stops come from the original pipe organ, and the rest are supplementary stops in the spirit of and complementary to the character of the pipe organ concerned.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTION

The stops selected by Johannus are indicated on the stop tabs. The alternative stops concealed behind them are always closely related to them. For example, a Flute 4’ can represent an Open Flute 4’, and a Principal 8’ a Diapason 8’. Thanks to this innovative and cost-saving solution, dozens of international pipe organs can be played using one standard stoplist. This technological innovation is one of the most important features of the Johannus LiVE 2T. Choosing this solution means we can put the pipe organ within everyone’s reach, as we’d hoped.

HISTORIC BRIDGE BETWEEN CHURCH AND HOME

Playing a full church organ is every organist’s dream... but not every organist has 24/7 access to a pipe organ. The Johannus LiVE builds a historic bridge between the musical experience of the classic pipe organ and your own home. What is the Johannus LiVE, exactly, and what makes that connection between technology and romance so unique?

TRUE-TO-LIFE EXPERIENC

The Johannus LiVE is a high-quality digital organ that comes with sample sets, allowing you to play on dozens of international pipe organs. The sample sets are uploaded into the digital organ via USB drive. Each thumb drive contains the authentic, professional recordings of a specific international pipe organ.  The highest standards for digital audio are used to play the sampled sounds. This audio experience allows the Johannus LiVE to give you the feeling of playing a true-to-life, actual pipe organ.

FOUR POSITIONS PER ORGAN

For each sample, that authentic, high-quality sound can be played from four different positions within the church. The first position places you in the organist’s seat. The direct transmission of sound dominates the experience, while the spatial acoustics are secondary. The second position sets you in the audience, close to the front of the organ. The reverb is already coming into play, but the direct sound is still the primary focus. In the third position, you are placed right in the middle of the church, where sound and reverb meld as if you were in a CD recording. The fourth position places you in the back of the church, beyond the scope of the reverb.

THE ORGANIST IS KEY

One of the unique features of the Johannus LiVE is the fact that you, the organist, are right at the heart of the experience. The sound of the speakers is angled directly towards your ears. The organ sounds are crafted to blend with the space in which the original pipe organ is situated. It’s hardly a leap of the imagination to envision yourself at the keys of historic pipe organs in famous cathedrals... because as far as your ears can tell, that’s exactly where you are.

DYNAMIC STOPLIST

Every register on the Johannus LiVE comes with a small dynamic display that allows you to switch effortlessly between the stoplists of various pipe organs. To illustrate: the register that indicates a Principal 4’ on the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Église Notre-Dame d'Auteuil in Paris is a Gemshorn 4’ on the Bätz-organ in the Dom cathedral in Utrecht. The displays show the appropriate stoplist depending on which organ is currently being played. The registers are arranged by operating the wooden drawknobs, approximating the same experience as playing the selected authentic pipe organ.

A FULLY FLEDGED ORGAN

The combination of a physical stoplist with actual drawknobs and an authentic, superb sound make the Johannus LiVE a fully fledged organ. A unique sound experience that meets the highest standards for digital audio and the option, of playing dozens of actual pipe organs add the finishing touches to your experience. Play the world’s most beautiful organs from your own living room.

Johannus One Portable Organ

One keyboard, five organs, eighty stops and the world famous Johannus sound, all packed into one handy, portable organ keyboard. With the Johannus ONE, it's no longer the organ that determines the sound of the music; from now on, you're the one in control.

CONCEIVED WITH THE ORGANIST IN MIND

Unlike a regular keyboard, the Johannus ONE has been conceived and developed from the perspective of the organist. Specifically, this means that the basis of the instrument is an organ. This is very clear to see from the sixteen tab stops each representing five stops. This means that the ONE has no less than 80 unique stops, which becomes noticeable when you begin to play.

The 76 touch sensitive keys give you the feeling that you’re playing a real organ. It’s audible at the same time too: you aren’t playing a mainstream keyboard, but a real organ with authentic pipe organ sounds. Seven pre-programmed reverbs and an adjustable reverb volume make the experience complete.

SOLO AND ORCHESTRAL STOPS

In addition to the organ stops, the ONE is equipped with a number of quality solo and orchestral stops, including strings, a flute, a violin, a piano, a harp, a harpsichord and a trumpet. These stops can be used separately or in combination with organ stops.

TWO KEYBOARDS PLUS PEDAL BOARD

The ONE consists physically of a single keyboard, but the manual is easy to divide into two keyboards and a pedal board. This makes the instrument unique: in fact, you’re playing a complete organ. You play manual 1 to the right of the central C, and manual 2 to the left of the central C.

FIVE STYLES

Above each of the sixteen tab stops are listed the names of four other stops. The stop you register depends on the style you choose: American, English, French, German or the integrated disposition. So, in the standard disposition, the Viola di Gamba 8’ is a Salicional 8’ in the French style, and a Flute 4’ is a Quint 2 2/3 in the German style.

CREATE YOUR OWN COMPOSITION

Would you like to record your own playing? You can do that with the ONE! With an easily operated recording function, you can listen to your best pieces as often as you like. It’s also possible to play along with an existing recording. This allows you to buildup your compositionlayer by layer!

LEADING FOR DECADES

The Opus is a familiar face in the Johannus family. The impressive history of this organ dates back well into the last century. Until the early 1970s, when the Opus – which is also the fi rst home organ by Johannus – entered the market. Since then, countless organists have grown up with this organ and ‘the Opus’ has truly become a household name among organ lovers. No surprise, that the Opus has been Johannus’ bestselling organ for many years. And although the Opus moves with the times and is constantly being improved upon, the ideas that originally informed its creation have held true all these years. The Opus was, is, and remains a versatile musical enrichment for every living room.

EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES

The Opus is an organ for every enthusiast, and that becomes clear as soon as you take sit at the organ. One of the organs, we should say – as there are several options. You can choose between the Opus 255 or Opus 355 made from wood, or the Opus 155 in melamine.

The two-manual Opus 155 provides you with a balanced stoplist including 30 stops. Beneath the manuals, there is a 30-tone pedalboard and a programmable expression pedal. The Opus 255 and Opus 355 also feature a 30-tone pedalboard, with two programmable expression pedals. The two-manual Opus 255 features a stoplist with 36 stops. The showpiece of the Opus series, the three-manual Opus 355 with no less than 44 stops, is the jewel in the crown.

All organs in the Opus series also come with two additional solo stops as standard: a trumpet and a pan flute.

FOR THE TRUE ORGAN LOVER

After your first look at the organ, take a seat at the organ bench. After all, a rich and balanced stoplist may look good on paper, the way it sounds is even more essential.

To achieve the beautiful organ sounds of the Opus series, our sound engineers use the Harmonic Contour Sampling method. For this, they first make high-quality recordings of leading pipe organs. They then make a selection of the most beautiful sounding pipes in a rank. The quality of these pipes then forms the foundation of the entire organ stop. Thanks to this advanced sampling method, you enjoy the best sound quality of these impressive pipe organs. On every note of every stop.

To complete the experience, the organs in the Opus series feature a wide range of advanced technologies. For example, the Virtual Pipe Positioning system simulates the actual location of the pipes in the pipe front. And our newly developed wind model provides a realistic representation of the organ’s wind supply. This means that the pitch fluctuates very subtly when you press a number of keys simultaneously; that is, when you would require a lot of wind on a true pipe organ. In turn, this creates the impression that the organ is breathing, that it’s alive!

Because our own in-house R&D department develops all of the technologies used in the organ, these technologies are perfectly attuned to each other. This ensures that the organ always responds immediately to what you ask of it; that the sounds resonate through the room as soon as you touch the keys, and that the organ sounds like a real pipe organ. Just as it should.

MUSICAL ENRICHMENT

So the Opus is an impressive organ for everyone. And this is even further emphasized by the four different sample styles available on the organ. Whether you prefer a historical, baroque, symphonic or romantic style, or perhaps even a bit of everything – the Opus has something to suit everyone.

Choose the baroque setting, and the clear sounds of the principals and flutes will issue forth. Select the romantic style and the powerful tutti will roar through the room – as your feet move over the pedalboard. Completely immersed in the music, you’ll imagine yourself in an imposing church or in a picturesque little chapel. And whether you’re studying or just enjoying playing music, that’s exactly the feeling you’re looking for. That’s the feeling that the Opus offers you.

EMBRACED BY THE SOUND

In order to convey the sound of authentic pipe organs as pure and realistically as possible, these multi-channel organs come equipped with a top-quality audio system. The various stops and pitches are faithfully distributed across the loudspeakers so that you, the player, are always completely embraced by the warm organ sounds. Just as with a real pipe organ.

Of course, we’ve also thought of those organists who wear headphones while playing. By a clever application of the reverb, our SSE™ (Spatial Sound Experience) technology creates the sensation of standing in a church, chapel or cathedral, right before the pipe front – enabling you to enjoy your own playing to the full.

A WELCOME GUEST

The Opus is an attractive addition to any interior. The organ is stylishly designed, while the comfort of the organist has also been taken into consideration. For example, the subtle cut-out of the console provides extra freedom of feet movement and a better view on the playing of the pedalboard. The illuminated stop tabs are within easy reach and provide a quick, clear display of your current registration. The Opus 155 is available in four different colors, while the Opus 255 and 355 are available in six colors, meaning that there’s always a color that suits your taste and interior.

More features about the Johannus Opus 260

The Opus 260 is equipped with two manuals and an extensive disposition of 36 voices, divided over four organ styles. If desired, the Opus is also available in the Opus 360 variant with three manuals. The organ features four different sound characters based on historic organs, e.g. the romantic sound style exclusively uses voices from the Vater-Müller organ of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam and the symphonic style features sounds from the Adema organ in Raalte combined with voices from the Cavaillé-Coll from Paris. The historical style features samples from the Hinsz organ in Kampen, and finally, the Baroque style is based on the sounds of the Silbermann organ from the Hofkirche in Dresden. Some stops have double names and this is called style-variable disposition. To do best justice to each voice and each style, the best composition was considered for each style.

With the new convolution reverb, the organ has very realistic reverb options, with 12 different programmes to choose from.

New technology in the Opus models

Technological developments follow each other in rapid succession and this is also taken into account in the latest organs. The new Opus series features OrangeCore+ technology, which guarantees fast start-up times, excellent sound quality and long-term reliability. With a new convolution reverb, the reverb options have been further expanded. This reverb features a very realistic reverb, with a choice of 12 different programmes. As a final addition, there is a also a new digital mixer that creates an optimal sound experience, which will be experienced both through the built-in audio system and with headphones!

Solo voices and Ambiance option

And after all the above news, the Opus has two more important features that are definitely worth mentioning! First are the two solo voices that can be used as an extra dimension. The warm sound of a pan flute or the powerful trumpet are nice additions to your organ playing.

Furthermore, the Ambiance option also enriches the Opus series. Regardless of which reverb is chosen, this provides the option to select the location of the listening position in the church. Thus, it can sound as if you have taken your seat behind the console of one of the famous organs but also as if you are in the middle or back of the church!

Johannus Sampleset Amsterdam for Live III

The Oude Kerk is the oldest building still in existence in Amsterdam, capital city of the Netherlands. The church, whose origin dates back to the 13th century, is inextricably linked to some of the country’s greatest composers and organists.

One of them is Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, organist at the Oude Kerk from 1577 to 1621. Talented organists from all corners of the world flocked to Amsterdam to study under the incredibly popular

Sweelinck. In Germany, this earned him the apt nickname of Der Organistenmacher, or the Organist-maker. After his death, Sweelinck was buried in the Oude Kerk.

Another Dutch organist who caused a sensa tion in the Oude Kerk was Feike Asma. Between 1939 and 1984 he gave around two hundred concerts on the Vater-Mu¨ller organ, which he called ‘the most impressive baroque organ in the world’. These many concerts, along with numerous radio broadcasts, recordings and the wonderful short film Toccata, ensured that Feike Asma’s name and playing style became unavoidably associated with the Oude Kerk and the Vater-Mu¨ller organ, and vice versa.

However, the majesty of the Vater-Mu¨ller organ is not only due to the illustrious organists who play on it. The imposing cathedral space of the Oude Kerk also contributes. The expansive volume and floor area, the balance between length and breadth, the wooden vault and the balanced combination of materials such as glass, wood, hard stone, plasterwork and semi-soft joints: all come together perfectly in the heart of Amsterdam.
