The company was founded by Koichi Kawai in 1927 and the first instrument he produced was a Grand Piano. Throughout the years they have produced many more models, inspired by their innovativeness and creativity.

The CA701W is a digital piano that is also very suitable for pianists that are used to acoustic pianos. This is because Kawai made sure the piano sounds and feels exactly like an acoustic piano. This is because the keys are made of ebony and they have a Touch Key surface, which means they contain three sensors and counterweights. This will ensure the response is as authentic as possible and the keys will feel as heavy as acoustic ones. The piano has actually more functions than an acoustic one: instead of relying on one sound only, like with an acoustic piano, you can choose between many different pianos that are programmed into the system. This includes a few of kawai’s legendary acoustic pianos, such as the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX. The sound is produced by three separate speakers: two top speakers for the mid-tones, two tweeters for the high tones, and two bottom speakers for the low tones.
