Yamaha APX600III - Thinline

Yamaha APX600III

Take the stage by storm

As an electric guitarist in the 1980s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options for you that really worked. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or the dreaded extended sound check….

The APX series didn’t just focus on sound - every element was tweaked to be an easy switch for an electric player on-stage, from the stylish finishes to the cutaway body and the slim, electric-guitar style neck.

In any electro-acoustic, the combination of the guitar’s acoustic sound and its pickup is the heart of the sound. The latest APX600 features SRT Piezo Pickup – the same pickup as featured in the highly acclaimed A Series range and boasting incredible dynamic range, natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound that guitarists need and want. Yamaha’s legendary active preamp is still a big feature of APX, and being built by Yamaha’s audio-visual division, the sound quality is everything you’d expect from the world’s number one.

Styles have changed a little since 1987, but the essence of APX is the same as ever. Today’s APX guitars boast a more natural look, 5mm deeper body for better bass response and greater volume and, under the hood, a new non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.

The archetypal APX, the 600 series combines the outstanding comfort and perfect on-stage tone.

  • Thin Body and Cutaway For Excellent Playability
  • 634mm Scale Length for Enhanced Comfort
  • Narrower String Spacing Makes Stretching for Chords Easier
  • New Bracing Pattern For More Powerful Bass Response
  • Stage-focused Pickup Sound to Cut Through a Mix
  • Inlaid Soundhole Rosette

Yamaha SLG200NW Silent Guitar

Yamaha

The SLG200NW is a modern silent guitar from Yamaha. Yamaha is a Japanese company founded in 1887 by Torakusu Yamaha. He started developing organs and pianos, the first in Japan. He prioritized innovation and quality, and this is still evident in Yamaha's current products. The silent guitar is therefore silent, ideal for guitarists who do not want to create a nuisance or who like to play undisturbed. But how does this work? The guitar has no sound box or body, so there is no resonance. As a result, minimal noise is released. It's not completely silent, the attack of the strings will always produce a slight tone, but it's as minimal as it gets. The guitarist can hear the sound by connecting headphones to the guitar. This way you can practice in peace. But if you do want to play very audibly or want to play together, you can also connect the guitar to an amplifier.

This Yamaha SLG200NW comes with the acoustic guitar service package worth € 75.00, consisting of:

  • Adjustment before delivery/shipping
  • An adjustment voucher
  • Plectrum holder
  • Official Joh.deHeer warranty certificate

silent guitar

What then creates the sound? There is a piezo element under the bridge. This pickup is almost always used on semi-acoustic guitars. It captures the resonance and vibrations as authentically as possible. This system is aided by the SRT system which is hidden behind it. This system adds certain sound aspects to the sound, making it sound as authentic and acoustic as possible. This is necessary, because without a sound box there is no resonance and therefore no acoustic sound. Just because the SRT system has to do this artificially doesn't mean it sounds artificial. The system is so sophisticated that it knows exactly how to recreate the resonance, sustain, atmosphere and natural distortion of an acoustic guitar. Moreover, all these aspects can also be adjusted with the buttons on the side.

Materials

The SLG200NW is based on a classical guitar. The silent guitar has nylon strings with a classic headstock and tuners. The neck is also adapted to this. It has the same dimensions as a standard classical neck with a flat radius. So it really feels like a classical guitar. Moreover, Yamaha has used the best materials for this. The frame and base plate are made of mahogany. This is a sturdy type of wood with a beautiful color. It is heavy enough that it balances the neck well, but light enough that the silent guitar is as weightless as it appears. The neck is also made of mahogany, which makes the guitar look nice and complete. The fingerboard is made of ebony. Ebony is very rigid and provides a smooth playing surface. In addition, the guitar comes with a built-in tuner, headphone jack and a smartphone jack. The guitar comes with a bag. In short, the SLG200NW is a beautiful and innovative silent guitar for a great price!
