Godin 5th Avenue - Uptown Custom Havana Brown

Godin

Godin is a Canadian company who make professional and innovative guitars. Their guitars are relatively sustainable, as well. Almost all their wood comes from North-America, which means they don’t participate in the deforestation in South-America. Their guitars are made by hand by the best luthiers in Canada, which means they can guarantee high quality guitars.

Hollow Body

This guitar is a hollow body guitar. This means that the guitar is a combination of an acoustic and an electric guitar. A hollow body has both a hollow body as well as pickups and knobs. The vibration of the string resonates in the body and on the hollow wood, after which the resonance is caught by the pickups. This results in a beautiful and unique sound; hollow body guitars have a full and bright sound. This is different from a semi-acoustic guitar, as that’s simply an acoustic guitar with an acoustic pickup, meaning the sound is solely acoustic. Due to the pickups on hollow body guitars, many different types of sound are possible. Consequently, they are also ideal for solos and riffs. Furthermore, the sound holes on hollow body guitars are usually on the sides instead of in the middle, which means the resonance will sound different as well.

The 5th Avenue Uptown Custom Havana Brown

The 5th Avenue Uptown Custom Havana Brown is a unique guitar, not only because of its captivating appearance but also because of its unique pickup configuration. The guitar has a P90 in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge. This is a rare combination but it sounds fantastic. The P90 will sound a little sharper and brighter, ideal for more articulation and noticeability, whereas the humbucker sounds a little deeper, warmer, and fuller. The combination of these two will result in a full yet sharp sound. The guitar's body is made of Canadian wild cherry, which is sustainable and produces a warm sound with great sustain. The guitar has a maple neck and a Richlite fretboard. Richlite is a synthetic alternative for tonewood that is more sustainable for the environment and your instrument's quality. It feels just like authentic tonewood but it doesn’t have to be maintained.

Eastman Romeo LA - Blue

Eastman

Eastman was founded in 1992 by Qian Ni, a Chinese musician who had moved to America. He realised there were few professional instruments available at the time, which is why he decided to start his own company. Quality is still Eastman’s priority. Every instrument is made by hand and goes through an extensive process to ensure that the instruments will stand the test of time and can be used quite intensively

Thinlines

The Eastman Romeo LA is the new thinline guitar by Eastman. Thinline guitars are part of the hollow body guitars. Hollow body guitars are electric guitars with a soundboard. The vibrations of the strings resonate in inside the body, after which the resonance is caught and translated by the pickups. This process creates a very unique sound which cannot be replicated by other types of guitars. However, the sound can differ depending on the tonewood and the pickups. The combination between these factors is vital, and hollow body guitars will often sound amazing with P90s or humbuckers as they produce a vintage-y sound. Yet, thinlines work a bit different. They do have a soundboard, but they are a lot thinner. This prevents feedback and improves your playing experience. Furthermore, the wood plays a larger role in the sound of the guitar, which makes the sound more authentic and warmer. Thinline guitars are thus great for any guitar player, but especially those looking for a vintage sound.

The Eastman Romeo LA

The Romeo LA is a great choice of thinline guitars. This model is inspired by Los Angeles, the hometown of Eastman. This is mostly apparent in the design, the bright blue colour was derived from LA’s skyline. Furthermore, the golden accents result in a dazzling finish. Eastman also wasn’t reluctant when it came to quality. The top of the body is made of spruce and the back and sides are made of mahogany. This doesn’t only result in a beautiful resonance, but it’s also environmentally friendly. Eastman also makes sure that the chosen woods are the best of their kinds. Moreover, the guitar has two Seymour Duncan Radiator Phat Cat pickups. These are high-quality P90s that are very versatile. The pickups sound great when played clean, but they also have enormous power and grit with distortion. The most important aspect of these pickups is that they produce a beautiful vintage sound. The Romeo LA also has a Göldo Les Trem tremolo system. This system is designed so that it’s easy to use without blocking other functions on the guitar. The guitar also has locking tuners, which is a system that improves the tuning stability.

Eastman AR403CED Archtop

Eastman

Eastman was founded in 1992 by Qian Ni, a Chinese musician who had moved to America. He realised there were few professional instruments available at the time, which is why he decided to start his own company. Quality is still Eastman’s priority. Every instrument is made by hand and goes through an extensive process to ensure that the instruments will stand the test of time and can be used quite intensively.

Archtop Guitars

The AR403CED is a stunning professional archtop guitar from Eastman. An archtop guitar means exactly that; the body has a slight curve to it, instead of being completely flat like most guitars. Another aspect of an archtop guitar is that there are two F-holes at either side of the bridge. This construction was inspired by violins and produces an amazing sound. The two symmetrical F-holes make it easier for the sound to vibrate and to project. With F-holes, an arched construction is necessary, as the soundwaves will not properly move without a round edge. This also means that archtop guitars are hollow, otherwise the archtop construction will have no effect. The archtop construction is quite popular because the added resonance and projection produces a beautiful, airy, and full sound. Whereas solid body guitars predominantly produce sound with the vibration of the strings over the pickups, with a little added resonance on the top of the body, hollow body guitars have more resonance and will thus also sound less ‘flat.’

Materials

The AR403CED is also made of amazing materials. The guitar has a three piece maple neck, which makes the neck quite sturdy and comfortable to play. The neck also has a traditional C-profile, which is generally considered to be the most comfortable and efficient neck shape. The body is entirely made of laminated maple, which means the guitar not only looks beautiful but is very rigid and has a loud projection. The guitar has two Kent Armstrong HPAG-1 humbuckers. These humbuckers are inspired by the famous 1957 humbuckers and are made of the exact same materials. The humbuckers thus sound fantastic and authentic, especially with the archtop construction.

Eastman T49D/v - Antique Classic

Archtop Guitar

The T49D/v is a stunning professional archtop guitar from Eastman. An archtop guitar means exactly that; the body has a slight curve to it, instead of being completely flat like most guitars. Another aspect of an archtop guitar is that there are two F-holes on either side of the bridge. This construction was inspired by violins and produces an amazing sound. Whereas solid body guitars predominantly produce sound with the vibration of the strings over the pickups, with a little added resonance on the top of the body, hollow-body guitars have more resonance and will thus also sound less ‘flat.’

Materials

Furthermore, the T49D/v is made of the best materials. The guitar has a three-piece maple neck with an ebony fretboard. This is a great combination, as it makes the neck really sturdy, it’s comfortable to play, and it looks beautiful. The comfort is partially the result of the traditional C-shape of the neck. This shape is regarded by most as the most comfortable shape. Additionally, the body is made of laminated maple. The maple sounds quite bright and the fact that the wood is laminated will increase resonance and projection. Last but not least, the guitar has two Seymour Duncan Antiquity Humbuckers. Seymour Duncan produces some of the most popular pickups and is considered to be the best to date. Consequently, it is quite special when they team up with another company to produce a guitar with their pickups. The Antiquity Humbuckers are just that; they are high-quality humbuckers that are inspired by the original humbuckers. This means they sound beautifully authentic, especially with the archtop construction.

The 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II

The 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II is also made of the best materials. The guitar has a Canadian wild cherry body. This is not only quite sustainable, but it also produces beautiful sustain and a warm tone. Cherry also produces a nice articulated sound, but it’s not too loud. The neck is made of silver leaf maple and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. This is a great combination which results in a comfortable experience and a beautiful sound. The guitar has two P90 pickups. These are single coil pickups that have a wider magnet than regular single coils. This means the sound is fuller than regular single coils but not as full as humbuckers. As such, P90s are great for balanced or versatile guitarists.

The 5th Avenue Night Club Indigo Blue

The 5th Avenue Night Club Indigo Blue is a beautiful hollow body guitar by Godin. It’s a remarkable guitar as it has a beautiful dark blue colour with a classy Bigsby system and a noticeable pickguard. The beautiful appearance of the guitar is comparable to its sound. The guitar only has one pickup: a TV Jones Classic. This is a vintage humbucker that produces a bluesy sound. As such, the guitar is very suitable for guitarists that prefer a vintage sound. The body is made of Canadian wild cherry which provides great sustain and a warm sound. The guitar has a silver leaf maple neck and a Richlite fretboard. Richlite is a synthetic tonewood that provides the same playing experience but doesn’t require maintenance. Richlite is also more sustainable as most tonewoods that are used for fretboards are vulnerable woods.

The Montreal Premiere LTD Desert Green is an amazing guitar. It doesn’t only look unique due to its Desert Green Colour, but the guitar also contains a Bigsby tremolo system and two Seymour Duncan P-Rails. These are strange pickups, as they are humbuckers that consist of a narrow Hot Rails single coil and a vintage P90. These pickups were designed to be able to produce a super versatile guitar. This is because the humbuckers can be split into either a P90 or a single coil. The guitar has a Canadian wild cherry body, which sounds warm and articulated. Furthermore, the guitar has a mahogany neck and a rosewood fretboard.

This is a great combination that produces a warm yet bright sound. The guitar has an ebony fretboard and a maple neck, which results in a comfortable playing experience.
