Cornet :

The cornet is very similar to the trumpet. However, the instrument has a different history: it descends from the post horn. The main difference is that the tube of the cornet has a mixed cylindrical-conical shape and that of the trumpet a cylindrical one: between the mouthpiece and the bell, the diameter of the tube of the cornet becomes wider after a straight section. The cornet is also more compact, with wider bends than the trumpet. The cornet is mainly tuned in B flat, but the cornet is also in A in classical repertoire. The brass band also features the E-flat cornet with a higher range.
