Squier Affinity Stratocaster HSS Pack - Black

Squier

Squier is part of Fender. In 1965 they were bought by Fender, specifically to sell their popular Stratocasters and Telecasters for a lower price. This means they are the only brand that can copy Fender guitars completely, because they are part of the patent. The difference between Fender and Squier guitars is mostly in where they are produced. Fender guitars are either made in Mexico or the United States, whereas Squier guitars are made in Asia, usually Indonesia or China. They also tend to use cheaper materials, depending on the series. This means Squier guitars can be cheaper than Fender guitars. However, Squier remains one of the best producers when it comes to cheap guitars, because they produce relatively high-quality guitars for the price.

The Affinity Stratocaster HSS

A superb gateway into the time-honored Fender family, the Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster HSS delivers legendary design and quintessential tone for today’s aspiring guitar hero. This Stratocaster features several player-friendly refinements such as a thin and lightweight body, a slim and comfortable “C”-shaped neck profile, a two-point tremolo bridge for superior tremolo action and sealed die-cast tuning machines with split shafts for smooth, accurate tuning and easy restringing. Loaded with a Squier humbucking bridge pickup and single-coil neck and middle pickups for genre-defying sonic variety, this model is ready to accompany any player at any stage.

The Frontman Amplifier

The Sonic Series

Squier announced the arrival of the Sonic series at NAMM 2023. This series is considered the successor to their Bullet series. Just like with the Bullet guitars, the Sonic guitars are solid body beginner electric guitars. These guitars are a reliable option within the lowest price category. The Sonic series is even more extensive than the Bullet series, as they also produce lesser known guitars, such as the Esquire and the Mustang. The guitars are also made in more unique colours.

The Esquire

The Esquire looks very similar to the Telecaster. This is because it is the predecessor of the Telecaster. Leo Fender produced the Esquire in 1950 and it was one of the first solid body electric guitars in the world. The Esquire was, however, overshadowed by the Telecaster which was released shortly thereafter. The biggest difference between the two is that the Telecaster has two pickups, two single coils, whereas the Esquire has one pickup, also a single coil. Ever since the Esquire has been memorialised as a vital piece of guitar history, and the single pickup is now viewed as handy and reliable. Consequently, Fender decided to bring this piece of history back through Squier’s Sonic series, where they swapped out the single coil pickup for a humbucker for a fuller and warmer sound.

Materials

The body of the guitar is made of poplar. This is a light tonewood which produces a balanced sound. The neck is made of maple and the fretboard of Indian laurel. This is a great and sustainable combination which produces a comfortable experience.
