Transacoustic
The third generation of Transacoustic pianos combines the worlds of acoustic and digital pianos like never before. Fundamentally an acoustic piano, it can of course be played entirely acoustically, allowing you to fully enjoy the pure, rich sounds of Yamaha’s high-quality instruments. In addition, the piano is equipped with a range of digital features, allowing it to operate in Silent and Hybrid modes.
Hybrid Mode
In Hybrid mode, a Transacoustic piano combines digital sounds with the acoustic elements of the instrument. It allows you both to acoustically mute the piano so that the hammers no longer strike the strings, and to use the piano acoustically to enhance the digital sounds. The digital system uses enhanced foundational sounds derived from the world-famous Yamaha CFX concert grand and the legendary Bösendorfer Imperial grand, each key meticulously recorded at very high quality. These recordings have been processed into the latest samples, which are brought to life by the Transacoustic system through specially designed transducers.
When the acoustic sound is dampened, this system is truly unique because the digital sound is still enhanced by acoustic elements such as the vibration of the soundboard and string resonances. This allows you to play the piano at a lower volume while retaining a lifelike tonal character. For example, you can also play other sounds like a Fender Rhodes with the enhancement of the acoustic elements, resulting in really exciting combinations. Another great option is to play purely acoustically, where the piano is not dampened and can be digitally augmented with, for example, a string orchestra.
Silent Mode
With a Yamaha Transacoustic, you can also play in Silent mode. The acoustic part is muted, and the digital sound can be played through headphones. This is ideal, for example, when one family member wants to watch TV while another wants to play the piano. When wearing headphones, you are fully immersed in the piano thanks to binaural technology. This technology ensures the experience is exactly like sitting at the piano and is therefore incomparable to the usual left-right headphone sound. You can play for hours and enjoy yourself at the piano without disturbing anyone — that’s possible with a Transacoustic!
Touch and Feel
The touch and feel of the Transacoustic is breathtaking in every mode. For the first time, all sensors are completely contactless, so the digital technology has no negative impact on the acoustic playing experience of the piano. Acoustically, it remains truly acoustic without compromise. In Silent mode, the feel of the acoustic action remains, except that the hammer no longer physically strikes the string. The technology is designed so that stopping the hammer happens very subtly, making it unnoticeable to the player. The digital sound is generated by digital sensors, which for the first time are placed under the keys, near the hammers, and at the pedals. This allows for even more precise detection of your playing, enabling greater expressiveness.
App
For the first time, the third generation Transacoustic can wirelessly connect to your smart device via Bluetooth MIDI. The comprehensive Smart Pianist app offers many options for selecting and editing sounds. In addition to Bluetooth MIDI, the piano also supports Bluetooth audio, allowing you to stream music wirelessly through the piano. Thanks to its special transducers, the Transacoustic piano can be used as a high-quality speaker for listening to music
