Roadhouse Parlor
The Roadhouse is a great parlor guitar from Art & Lutherie. Art & Lutherie is a Canadian company that falls under Godin. Godin is predominantly known for their electric and semi-electric guitars, while they release acoustic guitar under the Art & Lutherie name. As such, the same quality as Godin can be guaranteed. The Roadhouse series contains compact, pretty, and high-quality guitars that are ideal for on the road. This guitar is a parlor guitar, which is very comfortable and versatile. The parlor was very popular in the nineteenth century, but when music changed in the twentieth century, the parlor wasn’t considered loud enough to keep up with other instruments. However, the parlor guitar is slowly gaining back popularity as due to new techniques and amplifiers the parlor isn’t as quiet anymore. Its small size also makes the guitar good to travel with and the middle and high tones make the guitar both ideal for rhythm guitar and fingerpicking.
Materials
The guitar has Canadian wild cherry back and sides. This is a tonewood Art & Lutherie often uses, partially because they like to use local materials but also because it’s very sustainable. Furthermore, it also sounds amazing, as it has a soft and warm sound. The top is made of solid cedar, which sounds warm and bright. The guitar has a maple neck and a rosewood fretboard. This is a great combination that will provide a comfortable playing experience.
