With the compatible GK-pickup (the GK-5 for guitars and the GK-5B for basses) the VG-800 can open a world of possibilities: alternate tunings without having to touch the tuning pegs, realistic acoustic sounds, synth sounds, and completely integrated effects. However, even without the GK-pickup the VG-800 is still an incredibly impressive multi-effects processor and is a great addition to your pedalboard.

The system makes use of Boss’ newest generation of sound technology, designed by professional guitarists who were looking for individual string processing, extensive sound modelling, and modern workflow integration. Moreover, the system uses AIRD (Augmented Impulse Response Dynamics) so the produced amp sound will sound even more realistic. The versatile system also makes use of multi-staged processing, meaning that the signal gets reprocessed at every stage. This means that the effects are better integrated, the amp sounds better, and the post-processing will perfect the sound beautifully.

Connections

The pedal system contains a standard jack input for a standard guitar cable, a in- and output for the GK-pickup, inputs for footswitches, a stereo output, and a MIDI-in and -out. Furthermore, the system contains a USB-C output which turns the VG-800 into an audio interface. Last but not least: the system, of course, contains an input for the included power supply.
