The 9050M are amazing bass strings from Fender. These strings are Flatwound, which means that the steel that wraps around the core has a cornered shape. This may sound strange, but it means that when the steel is wrapped they’ll fit snuggly next to each other and create a smooth and flat string, as opposed to the little bumps you can feel with a Roundwound string. They don’t only feel different, but they also sound different. Roundwound strings have a brighter and more balanced sound, whereas Flatwound strings will emphasise the mid and low frequencies and will thus sound warmer and softer. This makes Flatwounds ideal for genres like reggae, country, and jazz.
