Hammond SKX-PRO Stage Keyboard

The new Hammond SKX-PRO is a 2-manual version of the highly popular SK-PRO series. It shares all the sounds and features of the original, but in a compact 2-manual design. This allows you to perform live with even greater versatility, without having to lug around bulky MIDI keyboards!

Operation and Use

The SKX PRO features 2x 61 touch-sensitive, semi-weighted keys. This ensures that the keys aren’t too light, making this model ideal for keyboardists accustomed to acoustic keyboards. With 2x 61 keys, the keyboard is relatively compact for a two-manual instrument, making it easy to transport. It is therefore the ultimate keyboard for keyboardists who travel or perform frequently. Additionally, Hammond has gone to great lengths to make the SKX series excellent stage keyboards. The SK PROs are also very versatile in use. The keyboard features a large color display, making all functions and settings clearly visible, even in the dark. Furthermore, the SKX PRO features pitch bend and modulation wheels, making it very easy and quick to change the sound or toggle functions on and off. This makes it very simple to play multiple parts while performing, and it reduces the time a keyboardist would normally need to switch between functions and/or sounds. It also features four sound engines. These sound engines can be used separately or simultaneously.

Sounds and Functions

The SKX PRO is essentially suitable for any purpose. This model features a tonewheel organ, but can certainly also be used as a piano or synthesizer. Furthermore, it is possible to layer different functions and sounds on top of each other, making it possible, for example, to use the piano and synthesizer functions simultaneously. However, it’s also easy to switch between different functions using the selection buttons while playing. It’s also possible to use four different voice sections simultaneously. In addition, this model has many patches. With patches, you can save and reuse multiple sounds and configurations. The keyboard has the capacity to store up to 200 organ, 400 piano, and 200 synthesizer patches. You can also connect a USB flash drive to the keyboard to expand the memory. Furthermore, the keyboard also offers the option to layer, split, or customize these patches. Up to 200 of these combinations can be saved. The SKX PRO comes with a wide range of pre-programmed sounds, including the authentic sound of an acoustic grand piano, as well as the sounds of a digital piano.

Connections

Finally, this model also offers a wide range of connection options. As mentioned earlier, you can connect a USB flash drive to expand the memory. The SKX PRO features a USB-A and a USB-B port, which can also be used to connect a PC or laptop. However, it is also possible to create a MIDI connection using a USB-MIDI cable. Furthermore, the keyboard is equipped with left and right jacks for connecting an amplifier in both mono and stereo modes, as well as a headphone jack. The headphone jack has a separate volume control. Additionally, there are pedal jacks and an 11-pin Leslie jack. (Leslie cable sold separately). In short, a highly versatile keyboard for the enthusiastic keyboardist!
