Humidity

For the technical condition of a piano or grand piano, it is essential that your instrument is placed in good conditions. Too low humidity or rising heat from underfloor heating can cause cracks and tears in the bridge, the soundboard and the voice block. The result is that your piano can no longer be tuned and thus loses its sound and value. Repairing this is very expensive and that is why it is important to monitor the humidity with a hygrometer. For a piano it is important that it is between 40 and 60%.
