One of the most essential parts of a piano is the soundboard. This board is largely responsible for the tonal quality of the piano, which is why Schimmel attaches great importance to this component. Years of experience have contributed to the soundboard being made exceptionally large in comparison to the height of the instrument, thanks to its extravagant shape. Schimmel has done this with all models in the Classic and Konzert series, resulting in greater volume with superior tone distribution. Of course, the taller the piano, the larger the soundboard. With a height of 130 cm, this model is one of the taller pianos and therefore has a full and powerful volume. It is not only the size that influences the sound; the curves and thicknesses also have an impact, and these technical aspects have been worked out in detail. This results in ideal vibration properties across a wide spectrum of frequencies, and with the characteristic palette of rich tonal colours and powerful deep bass tones, excellent tuning stability of the piano is ensured.
But it is not only the size of the soundboard that has an influence. Another crucial factor is the quality of the spruce wood used. Specific climatic conditions influence the quality of the wood. Trees in higher altitudes grow more slowly, resulting in smaller annual rings and fewer disruptions in the grain. This makes the wood slightly stronger and more rigid, which has a positive effect on the sound. For this reason, Schimmel uses only exclusively selected spruce wood from the higher Bavarian forest areas.
Silent System?
Would you like this beautiful Schimmel piano to be equipped with a Silent System? This is certainly possible, and we offer two options. The first option is the Schimmel Twintone Silent System, which is designed by Schimmel itself and installed at the factory in Braunschweig. As a second option, you can choose the Excellent AdSilent2 system, which is installed by our own piano technicians. We offer particularly attractive bundle discounts when a Silent System is purchased in combination with a piano.
What is a Silent System?
A Silent System allows you to play your acoustic piano using headphones, while remaining completely silent to your surroundings. When the system is activated, a built-in rail prevents the hammers from striking the strings, so no acoustic sound is produced. Each key is equipped with sensors that translate the touch into a digital sound, which is then heard through the headphones. This allows you to enjoy hours of piano playing at times when it may be less appreciated by those around you.
HISTORY OF SCHIMMEL
The story of Schimmel started in 1885 near Leipzig. In a modest workshop of approximately 13 square meters, Wilhelm Schimmel produced his first pianos and here the foundations were laid for a leading company that has now survived for four generations. In 1897 it was decided to move to a larger factory and developments followed each other in rapid succession. The first pianos were sold internationally and some royalties also belonged to the customer group. The first gold medals in prestigious exhibitions were won. In 1931 the step was made to the current factory in Braunschweig and that was a golden step. At the time of the division of Germany, it belonged to economically better West Germany, while the old factory was located in East Germany. The war was survived and in 1958 Schimmel was the best-selling piano worldwide. The family business is now in the hands of the fourth generation. The years of experience and accumulated expertise, combined with a modern vision, means that Schimmel still belongs to the world top. Great sounding and playing pianos are the result of this.
