The Tanglewood TWT13E Concert ukulele is an excellent ukulele for people who want to try out this small instrument from Hawaii, or who want to take a step up. With its beautiful natural colour, this ukulele looks like a serious instrument compared to others in its price range. It also sounds very beautiful.
A very handy feature of this instrument is that it can be connected to an amplifier, which means it can also be used for concerts and larger groups.
This ukulele has a walnut top, sides, and back. Walnut is a well-known tonewood for string instruments and is known for its sparkling, full sound. It also has a very comfortable okoume neck and an ebony fingerboard. In addition to that, you receive a gig bag with this ukulele, so you can take it with you anywhere without any problems.
The Tanglewood TWT13E is a concert ukulele. What does that mean?
Ukuleles come in several different sizes: soprano, concert, tenor and baritone. The soprano is the smallest of the four, and it is also the traditional size of the ukulele. One disadvantage of the soprano is that it can feel uncomfortable if you have larger fingers. That is why the concert ukulele exists: it is a small step larger than the traditional soprano, making it easier to play for people with larger fingers. Because of its larger body, it also has a slightly different sound.
Then there is the tenor. This ukulele is much larger than both the soprano and the concert, and therefore does not really belong to the traditional ukulele family anymore. It sounds much fuller thanks to its larger body, but it no longer has the traditional ukulele sound. That is why many professional players do not use a tenor.
Finally, after the tenor comes the baritone. This is the largest ukulele, and it produces the fullest and warmest sound.
