The DGX-670 is Yamaha’s amazing new portable piano. For over a century, Yamaha has specialized in innovating musical instruments, particularly keyboard instruments. They always strive to outdo their previous models and the competition. They have certainly succeeded with the DGX-670. It offers a highly innovative take on digital pianos. Yamaha’s goal with this piano is to capture the playing experience and sound of a concert grand piano in a compact digital piano.
Authentic sound and playing experience
This is a difficult undertaking. Because what makes a grand piano so unique is its resonance. A grand piano contains long strings that resonate within the soundboard when vibrated. Additionally, when one or more strings are struck, other strings vibrate along with them unintentionally. This also creates the unique, rich sound of a grand piano. Yamaha has managed to replicate this through the VRM system (Virtual Resonance Modeling). This system knows which strings vibrate in unison when each key is struck, and also takes into account how hard or softly the key is struck. A hard strike causes more strings to vibrate in unison than a soft strike. In this way, the resonance of a grand piano is simulated. In addition, the DGX-670 has 88 weighted keys. The keys are often what make the biggest difference between digital keyboard instruments and acoustic keyboard instruments. In acoustic keyboard instruments, hammers attached to the keys strike the strings. In digital keyboard instruments, this is of course not necessary. However, this often results in the keys feeling too light. Yamaha has managed to adapt this to make the playing experience feel as authentic as possible. They achieved this through the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) system, which makes the keys weigh exactly the same as those on a grand piano. Consequently, the lower notes require a heavier touch than the higher notes, because on a grand piano, the hammers are larger for the lower notes. This ensures an authentic playing experience. As a result, this model is suitable for both pianists accustomed to acoustic pianos and those looking to transition to acoustic pianos.
Digital Features
In addition, the DGX-670 offers all the benefits of a digital piano, alongside those of an acoustic model. For example, you can adjust the acoustics. For example, you can play a grand piano as if you were in a cathedral, theater, practice room, etc.—all from the comfort of your living room. The sound is also customizable. Yamaha has pre-programmed various sounds, so if you don’t want to play a grand piano, you can also play a standard digital piano, a keyboard, or other instruments. Another advantage is that the DGX-670 has a built-in dual speaker system. This dual system, consisting of a full-range speaker and a tweeter, ensures that the high notes are very clear and the bass tones are distinct and full. This is also convenient because the volume is adjustable. In addition, it’s also possible to play in complete silence, as it has a headphone jack. With headphones, you won’t disturb anyone with your playing, so you’re not limited by time or social conventions.
Connectivity
In addition, the DGX-670 features Bluetooth connectivity. This allows you to connect your piano to other devices so you can play along with your favorite music. You can also connect a microphone to the built-in speaker. This makes it very easy to sing along while you play, without having to purchase a separate amplifier. It also has a USB port, allowing you to connect a USB flash drive. In short, a highly professional digital piano with all the benefits of an acoustic piano at a very affordable price!
Please note: the pedals and stand are sold separately!
