The Yamaha Montage 7 was Yamaha’s flagship workstation synthesizer and the successor to the hugely popular MOTIF series. It stands out thanks to the addition of the “Super Knob,” the AWM2 synth engine, and hyper-realistic acoustic instruments. Combined with the versatile touchscreen control system, it became a hit with serious keyboard players.
This used Yamaha Montage 7 is less than a year old and in excellent condition. The latest software has been installed, and it has been fully checked by our experts.

Engines
The Montage 7 features two distinct sound engines:

AWM2 Engine – Responsible for standard sounds such as piano, strings, drums, brass, and more. It ensures clarity and highly realistic acoustic tones.

FM-X Engine – The Frequency Modulation engine, responsible for the legendary synthesizer sounds. The FM system, developed in the 1980s, produces that classic ’80s synth sound, which is often unmatched by more modern systems. Yamaha prioritised authenticity in sound, making this synthesizer perfect for ’80s fans, nostalgic Gen-Xers, or anyone seeking rich, complex synth tones.
Both engines are powered by Motion Control Synthesis, which delivers impressively realistic sounds, high-quality audio output, and nearly ten times the waveform capacity of the MOTIF series.
Controls and Features
The Montage 7 is primarily controlled via the central touchscreen, complemented by eight sliders on the left and additional control buttons on the right. A notable addition is the Super Knob, a macro control knob located beside the screen that allows multiple parameters to be adjusted simultaneously. This can include tuning, instrument changes, or audio modifications, and can also be controlled via a foot pedal.
The Montage 7 comes with 128 pre-programmed presets, with the capacity to program over 2,000 additional sounds. It also features 16 sequence tracks and supports multiple songs. Audio can be recorded and morphed, both from the synthesizer itself and external sources such as vocals, instruments, or live performances.
