More than 300 new voices including S.Art2 voices

Over 300 new voices have been added to the Yamaha Tyros5, including new brass, guitars, synths, electric pianos and acoustic pianos. S.Art2 voices are high-quality sounds that recreate the playing experience of a real instrument.

Authentic ensemble performance

Ensemble Voice is an impressive new feature that reproduces true “divisi” playing within a section. Previously, a voice like “Brass Quartet” used a sample of four musicians, which sounded great. But when you played two notes at once, you suddenly had eight musicians — still impressive, but not realistic.
With the Ensemble Voices of the Tyros5, you always have the same number of musicians because the instrument has the musical intelligence of a professional arranger. Play two notes with a Brass Quartet Ensemble Voice and the Tyros5 assigns the upper notes to the trumpets and the lower notes to the trombones, giving an incredibly realistic sound.

Ensemble Voices also use parameters that bring performances to life by reproducing subtle timing differences found in real ensembles. This creates an authentic sound as if a group of real musicians were playing, allowing you to enjoy performing as an instrumental quartet with ease.

Add rhythm to your playing with Audio Styles

Audio Styles introduce forty new percussion-based styles to the impressive accompaniment capabilities of the Tyros5, adding natural feel, ambience and warmth to drum and percussion parts for even greater expression. Audio Styles also make full use of Yamaha’s Time Stretch technology, allowing the audio to follow your tempo changes without affecting pitch — everything stays perfectly in sync.

Enhanced DSPs for authentic effects that deliver exactly the sound you want

The Yamaha Tyros5 not only includes new high-quality effects such as Real Distortion and Real Reverb, but also features beautifully designed control panels with intuitive controls — just like the real devices.
The DSPs also include VCM (Virtual Circuit Modelling) effects, using the same technology as the professional-grade processors in Yamaha’s top-class mixers.

Real Reverb

Real Reverb is an improved version of the reverb technology found in previous Tyros models. New algorithms take more factors into account, resulting in smoother and more natural-sounding reverberation.

Real Distortion

Real Distortion effects are based on digital models of legendary guitar amplifiers from the 1960s and 1970s, as well as classic analogue effects pedals. The result is an exceptionally accurate reproduction of the frequency response and dynamics of real distorted guitar tones. The new intuitive graphical interface makes it feel as though you’re operating the original amplifier.

VCM (Virtual Circuit Modelling)

Even in a digital world, many studios and performers still rely on analogue gear for its warmth — something digital effects often struggle to provide. VCM technology accurately recreates the classic sound of these analogue devices.

A versatile, high-performance audio engine that gives you total control

The Yamaha Tyros5-61 can play and record audio files (including performances using Audio Styles) and includes a range of audio manipulation features that let you create karaoke-style “minus one” tracks in any key or tempo you choose.

Audio Link Multi Pad

With Audio Link Multi Pad you can link your own audio files (sound effects, vocal or spoken phrases, etc.) to the pads and trigger them while performing.

Vocal Cancel

The powerful Vocal Cancel function can effectively reduce or remove prominent signals such as vocals or solos from an audio file. This allows you to create your own “minus one” tracks and sing along karaoke-style with instrumental backing.

Time Stretch and Pitch Shift

Not everyone has the same vocal range. The Tyros5 can change the key of your favourite song using the pitch-shift function without affecting the tempo. If you want to change the speed, the Time Stretch function lets you adjust the tempo without altering the pitch.

Right-hand style control

On the Tyros5 you can set up to three split points anywhere across the keyboard, allowing complete flexibility — for example, assigning a different voice to each zone. Styles can now be controlled by chords played in the right-hand zones, allowing you to play bass lines manually with your left hand.

Crossfader

The crossfader lets you adjust the balance between MIDI song playback and audio playback. Moving the slider left increases the MIDI song volume; moving it right increases the audio playback volume.

Panel Lock

Lock the panel to prevent settings from being changed while you’re away from the instrument — the perfect feature for live performers.

Four sub outputs

The Tyros5 includes four Sub Out line outputs that allow you to tailor your sound to any performance environment. For example, you can send a specific part to a stage monitor or route another sound to the front-of-house PA.

New design

The Tyros5 features a metallic silver (titanium-finish) housing that gives the impression of a metal-moulded body, creating an exclusive, high-tech look. Great care has also been taken with the layout and feel of the control buttons so that users familiar with previous Tyros models can operate the new model with complete confidence.
