The history of Yamaha
The Yamaha brand name is widely recognised in the world of musical instruments and far beyond. Today, the company also produces motorcycles, skis and audio equipment. However, its origins lie entirely in music, as reflected in the three tuning forks that make up its logo. The Japanese company Yamaha was founded in 1887 by Mr Torakusu Yamaha. He began by building harmoniums and, just over 13 years later, in 1900, produced his first pianos. The factory is located in Hamamatsu and has established a global presence. With more than 6 million instruments produced, Yamaha pianos and grand pianos can be found all over the world. These instruments are known for their solid construction, clear and transparent sound, excellent playability and a high degree of tuning stability.
