Line 6
Line 6 is a guitar company that was founded in 1996 in California. In 1996 they produced the first modelling amp in the world, the AxSys 212. They focussed mostly on modelling techniques with amps and effect pedals. Furthermore, they prioritise versatility, which means their technology contains many different types of modelling and sounds. Additionally, they played an important role in the improvement and availability of digital recording. In 2014 Line 6 was bought by the popular Japanese company Yamaha. Yamaha is a huge company that produces many different types of instruments and audio products. Consequently, Line 6 didn’t just grow, it also became available worldwide. Moreover, Yamaha prioritises innovation and creativity, which means their subsidiary Line 6 still strives to produce the best and newest products.
The Catalyst CX Series
The Catalyst CS Series contains three high-quality amplifiers which all have two channels. The amps look like traditional amps, but they have all the advantages of modern amps, including twelve modelling options that are produced by Line 6’s popular Helix Amp and Effects Processor. As such, you can choose between many sound options, from a beautiful bright clean sound to a hard and dirty distortion. Furthermore, each of the twelve modelling options has its own boost type, so every individual sound can be perfectly boosted. Besides the twelve modelling options the amp also contains 24 different effects with the same quality as the Helix modelling options. The amps are incredibly versatile as well, because they have an XLR input (for a microphone), a MIDI output, a built-in USB interface, and a Power Amp input so you can use the amps as speakers. Additionally, the amps have a built-in tuner, an effects loop input, and an output for a PA system.
The Catalyst CX 60
The Catalyst CX 60 is the smallest amp from the series. It’s a 60-watt amp and has a 12-inch speaker. Due to its small size it’s ideal for home use, but due to its power it’s not very ideal for large performances, unless you use a PA system. Due to the built-in USB interface the amp can also be used for recording, which means it’s the ideal purchase for the musician who wants a new amp and wants to start recording.
The other amps in the series are the Catalyst CX 100 and the Catalyst CX 200.
