Taylor introduces brand new Gold Label collection

With a new body design, neck, bracing and aesthetic, Taylor unveils a brand new guitar collection. The Gold Label collection produces a beautiful old-time sound reminiscent of music loved generations ago. It is reminiscent of the flat-top guitars of the 1930s and 1940s.

Different wood combinations

The Gold Label Collection has been introduced as a premium-performance offering within Taylor's lineup, but with a unique identity in design. This collection is launched with two core models in different wood combinations. The first consists of Honduran rosewood with Sitka spruce, and the second features Hawaiian koa with spruce. You can choose a natural or sunburst top.

New Auditorium

One thing that sets this collection apart is the new Super Auditorium. The proportions are similar to the Grand Auditorium, but the body is slightly longer and wider. The neck joint is also new. This is an improved joint that translates into low-end resonance.

Developed sound

All in all, these guitars have a louder, fuller, deeper and more open sound. High notes are heavier, warmer, woodier and more rounded. The overall tone is robust and strong. At the same time, these models are capable of producing full tones after a light touch. ‘The louder you play, the louder the guitar gets, but it starts to naturally compress the sound into a more controlled and focused tone. If you play a simple note softly, the guitar naturally amplifies it with surprising warmth and volume,’ said Andy Powers, Taylor's chief designer.

Striking design

With the intention of making these guitars stand out completely, Taylor has made the design visibly different from other collections. Inspired by the looks of several other instruments, such as classic banjos and mandolins, this look was created. So it has a new headstock, slightly different logo design, elegant curve wing on the bridge, bridge pins made of bone and a specially designed label.

These models share the same name as the 800 Series, and have a price range similar to Builder's Edition 814ce models.

Taylor Gold Label 814e SB

The Gold Label Series

2025 has been seized by Taylor; adding some new legends to the market with the introduction of the Gold Label Series. These guitars produce the beautiful ‘Old-Heritage’ sound, as Taylor refers to it. This is a powerful sound with a dynamic depth, amazing tuning stability, and great sustain, which is the result of a combination of the new Super Auditorium shape, the longer neck joint, the V-Class bracing, and the use of amazing tonewoods. The appearance and the shape of the guitars were inspired by flattop guitars from the 1930s and ‘40s, which are characterised by their open and vintage sound.

The Gold Label 814e

The Gold Label 814e is a great guitar. The body has a solid spruce top and solid Honduran rosewood back and sides. This combination produced a warm and balanced sound. The guitar has a mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard. Furthermore, the guitar has a Super Auditorium shape. This is a newer version of Taylor’s popular Grand Auditorium shape. The Super Auditorium has a slightly longer body and a wider bottom, which means the guitar looks very similar to the Grand Auditorium but has more space for resonance and thus produces a fuller and more powerful sound. This makes the guitar very versatile, but this shape is exceptionally ideal for fingerpicking. Furthermore, the guitar has LR Baggs Element VTC electronics so the amplified sound will sound authentic.

Taylor

Taylor is an American company that was founded in 1974 when two boys bought an old hippie guitar shop. The boys were very passionate about guitars and put a lot of energy into the shop. Eventually, the shop evolved into an international company. All Taylor guitars today are made in either El Cajon in California or Tecate in Mexico. Taylor is very proud of this, because guitars that are produced close to headquarters go through a more thorough quality control process and employee satisfaction is better regulated. Taylor prioritises tone and comfort. All guitars are perfected and with modern luthier techniques the guitars can be made with more precision and consistency.

The Gold Label 517e

The Gold Label 517e is a great guitar. The body has a solid torrified spruce top and solid tropic mahogany back and sides. This combination produced a warm and powerful sound. By torrefying the wood all the volatile elements of the wood get burned away, resulting in a stronger piece of wood and better resonance. The guitar has a mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard. Moreover, the guitar has a Grand Pacific body, which is a shape invented by Taylor. It’s a Dreadnought but with rounded shoulders and a wider waist. These changes in shape result in a rounder and deeper sound. Furthermore, the guitar has LR Baggs Element VTC electronics so the amplified sound will sound authentic.

Taylor 512e Gold Label Western guitar

The Taylor 512e Gold Label Western guitar has been developed for guitarists looking for that extra level of depth and expression in their instrument. Compared to many modern acoustic guitars, the focus here is less on a tight, bright tone and more on warmth, nuance and natural tonal development. This makes the model particularly appealing to players who favour an expressive playing style.

Sound and Playing Experience

The sound of this guitar can best be described as warm, rich and dynamic. The midrange is particularly prominent, while the low end remains full and controlled. The result is a balanced overall sound that performs equally well for delicate fingerstyle playing and more powerful strumming.

The responsiveness of the 512e Gold Label is immediately noticeable: light picking is translated effortlessly, while heavier playing never overwhelms the sound. The playing experience remains smooth and comfortable, allowing for extended playing sessions without fatigue. This makes the guitar especially suitable for singer-songwriters and guitarists who incorporate plenty of dynamics into their playing.

Application and Character

Within the Taylor range, this guitar is positioned as a model with added character and a clear vintage edge. While some models focus primarily on clarity and a modern voice, the 512e Gold Label offers a more open and mature sound. As a result, it feels equally at home in a variety of styles, from folk and blues to acoustic pop.

The guitar is also equipped with built-in electronics, allowing it to be amplified easily for live performances or recording sessions without sacrificing its natural character.
