With the Roland FANTOM-7 EX, you bring one of the most versatile workstations into your setup. The EX version features a major software upgrade in which Roland has added a range of new and significantly enhanced sound engines. This makes the instrument even richer and more versatile than previous generations. These include fully integrated engines from legendary synthesizers such as the Jupiter-8, SH-101, JD-800, JX-3P and Roland’s advanced N/Zyme engine. The result is a workstation that delivers both a modern sound and a deep archive of iconic Roland tones.

The FANTOM-EX introduces a substantial upgrade to the well-known SuperNATURAL engine, including new acoustic and electric piano sounds of exceptional quality. The German Grand piano from the RD-2000 is now also available on this model. In addition, the tonewheel organ engine has been replaced with a high-quality version from the Roland VK series, enabling realistic Hammond-style sounds and expressive drawbar control. The new reverb engine, featuring options such as shimmer and modulation reverb, takes sound design to a higher level.

As the upgrade is entirely software-based, the trusted hardware remains unchanged—and that is good news. The metal construction is robust and durable, making it ideal for musicians who travel frequently. The touchscreen interface is fast, clear and intuitive, while the 16 RGB pads and comprehensive audio and MIDI connectivity provide extensive sampling and performance possibilities. The 76-note keyboard offers an excellent balance between playing comfort and portability.
