The Space Echo
The RE-201 Space Echo is one of the most famous effects processors ever made. The effect was released in 1974 and has been a staple in the music industry ever since. The effect uses analogue tape to create an authentic multi-delay. This software was produced by the makers of the original Space Echo and is now thus available as an effects processor for your DAW. For this, they’ve used the best and newest modelling technologies and an original RE-201 from the seventies.
Functions
The plug-in has 59 presets to make editing extremely easy. However, you can still alter every aspect of the effect. As such, you have access to separate knobs for Bass, Treble, Repeat Rate (amount of repetitions), Intensity, Reverb Volume, and Echo Volume. Moreover, you can also change the frequencies, the type of tape (the shape of the waves), the depth of them, the speed, stereo mode, and, of course, the master. Furthermore, an interesting aspect of the Space Echo is the Mode Selector. With this, you have access to eleven different modes so you can choose between different delay and/or reverb types. So you can completely personalise the sound, from the smallest details to the largest changes.
Roland
Roland is a Japanese company created in Osaka in 1972 by Ikutaro Kakehashi. They produced high-quality and innovative rhythm machines, quickly followed by synthesizers and digital pianos, which made them one of the market leaders for electronic musical instruments within no time. Kakehashi subsequently created the subsidiary Boss in 1973, which focuses on the bass and guitar aspects of digital music. Roland’s philosophy is that music is an integral aspect of life, considered an almost magical part that brings us more humanity. It’s clearly important for Roland that they can guarantee the best quality. Furthermore, their slogan is ‘We Design The Future Together.’ Although they acknowledge their part in music history, they want to predominantly focus on the future. With this slogan they constantly remind themselves that ambition and innovation are vital and that they’ll prioritise their promise of constant quality development and an increase of quality with every new product.
