Schimmel C121 Tradition

With the Schimmel C121 Tradition you get an elegant piano of high quality. Pianos are made with great care and love in the Schimmel factory in Braunschweig, Germany. A high tonal quality and a refined touch are key features and Schimmel achieves this time and time again. The Classic series has won numerous awards for sound and performance as well as shape and design for a reason. With a height of 121 centimetres, the ultimate living room piano in the higher segment. Make your most beautiful piano dream come true with the C121 piano!

This C121 piano is the Tradition model but is also available in an Elegance Manhattan version. The Tradition is a bit more classic with more curves, while the Elegance piano is a bit tighter and more modern.

QUALITY OF THE SOUNDBOARD

One of the most essential parts of a piano is the soundboard. This bottom is largely responsible for the tonal quality of the piano and therefore Schimmel attaches great importance to this part. Years of experience have contributed to an extravagant shape that makes the soundboard extraordinarily large compared to the height of the instrument. Schimmel has done this with all models in the Classic and Konzert series and results in a greater volume with superior tonal distribution. Of course, the higher the piano is, the bigger the soundboard becomes. With a height of 121cm, this Schimmel C121 is of a very average height and therefore ideal for the living room. With the C126 and C130 models, Schimmel also has higher models available in the Classic series, while there is also a lower version with the C116. Not only the size has an influence, the curves and thicknesses also influence the sound and these technical aspects have been worked out in detail. This results in ideal vibration characteristics over a wide spectrum of frequencies and with the characteristic palette of rich tonal colors and powerful deep bass tones, excellent tuning stability of the piano is ensured.

But not only the size of the soundboard is of influence. Another crucial point is the quality of the spruce wood used. Specific climatic conditions influence the wood quality. A tree in a higher area grows more slowly, so that it has smaller annual rings and therefore contains few disturbances in the grain. This makes the wood slightly stronger and gets a stiffer character, which has a positive effect on the sound. For this reason, Schimmel only uses exclusively selected spruce wood from the higher Bavarian forest areas.

Silent System?

Would you like this beautiful Schimmel piano with Silent System? That is possible and we offer two options for this. The first option is to order the Schimmel Twintone Silent System. This system was designed by Schimmel himself and is installed in the factory in Braunschweig. As a second option, you can choose for the Excellent AdSilent System, which is built in by our own piano technicians. We offer the silent systems in combination with a piano with extra advantageous bundle discounts.

What is a Silent System? The Silent System allows you to play your acoustic piano with headphones while remaining completely silent to your environment. When the system is switched on, a built-in rail blocks the hammers from hitting the strings, so that no sound is produced. Each key has sensors that convert the touch into a digital sound that is reproduced through the headphones. This way you can play the piano for hours at a time when it is less appreciated by your environment.

HISTORY OF SCHIMMEL

The story of Schimmel started in 1885 near Leipzig. In a modest workshop of approximately 13 square meters, Wilhelm Schimmel produced his first pianos and here the foundations were laid for a leading company that has now survived for four generations. In 1897 it was decided to move to a larger factory and developments followed each other in rapid succession. The first pianos were sold internationally and some royalties also belonged to the customer group. The first gold medals in prestigious exhibitions were won. In 1931 the step was made to the current factory in Braunschweig and that was a golden step. At the time of the division of Germany, it belonged to economically better West Germany, while the old factory was located in East Germany. The war was survived and in 1958 Schimmel was the best-selling piano worldwide. The family business is now in the hands of the fourth generation. The years of experience and accumulated expertise, combined with a modern vision, means that Schimmel still belongs to the world top. Great sounding and playing pianos are the result of this.

Quality and Craftsmanship

With more than 130 years of experience in piano making, Schimmel is renowned for its uncompromising quality and exceptional attention to detail. The C169 Tradition Grand Piano is no exception – every single component is carefully selected and crafted to meet the highest standards.

Enchanting Sound

At the heart of this grand piano lies its powerful and clear sound. Thanks to the balanced design and integrated soundboard, you can enjoy a rich and full sound that is both warm and expressive. A key element influencing the tone is the soundboard itself. For this, Schimmel uses carefully selected mountain spruce from the Bavarian and Bohemian forests – the cradle of tonewood for German instrument makers.

Only the very finest wood is selected, grown slowly at high altitude, allowing the soundboard to be crafted with optimal resonant properties. The trees are preselected in the forests, then cut to size and seasoned over a long period of time. Despite this intensive preselection process, only around 2% of the harvested wood ultimately proves suitable for the production of Schimmel soundboards.

The production of the soundboard is a complex and time-consuming process, in which numerous factors have a significant influence on the final result. These factors include the thickness of the soundboard at various points, the moisture content of the assembled wooden components, and the tension applied to the soundboard when it is attached to the strung back structure.

This extensive manufacturing process ensures a rich tonal palette across the entire dynamic range, an even development of tone in all registers, and a long sustain. Depending on the desired tonal character, our soundboards are produced in different ways. Soundboards with a membrane-like finish are particularly challenging to manufacture, yet they offer exceptional vibrational properties.

Through this meticulous approach, Schimmel creates instruments with a unique sound experience that meet the highest quality standards and offer an outstanding playing experience for musicians worldwide.

Playability and Comfort

The Schimmel C169 Tradition Grand Piano features a responsive and precise keyboard, allowing every note you play to come effortlessly to life. In addition, the ergonomic design ensures exceptional playing comfort, enabling you to play for hours without fatigue.

So-called “mineral key tops” are used for the white keys on all Schimmel instruments. These unique key surfaces have been developed by Schimmel and provide pianists with a more sensitive and refined touch. The core of the keys is made from high-quality tonewood and is designed to amplify frequencies that are difficult for the soundboard to reproduce. This enhances tonal richness and results in a more balanced sound.

Moreover, the pianist experiences the played tones through the transfer of vibrations to the keyboard, allowing for greater control over the piano’s response. Thanks to these innovative features, a stronger interaction between pianist and instrument is created. As a result, Schimmel grand pianos offer an unparalleled playing experience and exceptional musical expressiveness for both professional and amateur pianists.

Elegant Design

This grand piano is not only a musical masterpiece, but also a stunning work of art for your interior. Its graceful design and high-quality finish make the Schimmel C169 Tradition Grand Piano a true eye-catcher, radiating timeless elegance.
