Roland has new drum kits: the V-Drums 3 and 5 are here!
Roland's new drum kits are finally here: the V-Drums 3 and 5 Series are now available! These are digital drum kits made with high-quality technologies. They are very similar to the V-Drums 7 Series but are more affordable. Both series include three models, two TD models and one VAD model. This means there are six models available: the TD313, the TD316, the VAD316, the TD513, the TD516 and the VAD516.
The V-Drums
The Roland V-Drums series is one of the most well-known ranges of electronic drum kits, renowned for their quality, feel and versatility. The series began in 1997 with the TD-10, which was the first electronic drum kit to feature mesh heads for the snare and toms. The idea behind the V-Drums is to provide the most realistic feel and sound possible, with advanced sensors and technology that accurately capture every aspect of drumming, from velocity to position and nuance. Over the years, Roland has continuously worked to improve pad technology and sound modulation, making V-Drums the top choice for both hobbyists and professionals.
The new modules
The main difference between the two series and the 7 series is that they have new modules: the V31 for the 3 Series and the V51 for the 5 Series. The V51 has three USB inputs for pads, producing a slightly more realistic and expressive sound. Both modules have three useful new features: the Phrase Trainer, the Stroke Monitor and the Blast Beat Trainer. The Phrase Trainer allows you to conveniently loop bars, making them easier to practise. The Stroke Monitor is a system that records your stick usage, allowing you to improve your stick technique. Finally, the Blast Beat Trainer is a kind of game that allows you to train your tempo and endurance
Roland Cloud Connect
You also have access to Roland Cloud Connect. You can connect your smartphone wirelessly to the module and use Roland Cloud Connect to instantly customise your sound and kits. This also means you always have access to Roland's ever-growing library of instrument expansions and new kits. The library already contains highly realistic recordings of the world's best drum kits, enabling them to produce an unprecedentedly authentic and detailed sound. These amazing drum kits were recorded in 32-bit/192 kHz resolution in the best recording studios around the world. Of course, you can also add your own sounds to your library. In addition, you can connect the module directly to your DAW via the MIDI connection and record your playing immediately.
Digital Drum Kit
But why play digital drums? A digital drum kit has certain advantages that an acoustic kit does not have. First of all, a digital drum kit is more compact and lighter than an acoustic one, making it easier to transport and set up, and taking up less space. In addition, it is not possible to play quietly on an acoustic drum kit. With a digital drum kit, you can. Digital drum kits also have a headphone jack, allowing you to play very quietly. This is ideal for drummers who play late into the night or who live in an apartment. Recording is also a lot easier. To record an acoustic set, a microphone must be placed on each drum and cymbal, which are then connected to a computer via an interface. Digital drum kits can be connected directly to a computer. What's more, a digital kit has many more sound options than an acoustic kit, so when you buy a digital drum kit, you actually get more.
In short, the V-Drums 3 and 5 Series are great and versatile drum kits. Come and try them out at our showroom in Sliedrecht!
