Organ and congregational singing afternoon centred on the new church organ
On Saturday 16 May, an afternoon of organ music and congregational singing will take place in Alblasserdam, celebrating the new church organ. The afternoon will focus on congregational singing, music, and the formal introduction of the organ on the organ gallery.
New musical possibilities
The organ, which previously stood at the front of the church, has been given a new position on the organ gallery. This relocation, carried out by members of the congregation, marks an important step and offers new musical possibilities within the church space.
Experience it during congregational singing
During the event there will be opportunities for congregational singing as well as a presentation of the organ. Wim Alblas and Leendert‑Jan Blom will speak briefly about the sound and the possibilities of the instrument. Harm Hoeve will demonstrate the organ’s tonal qualities. “The organ is powerful and clear in sound, warm and transparent,” says Wilfred de Heer. “An instrument with unprecedented possibilities.” This is due in part to the extensive free combination system.
All are welcome
Reverend Zweistra will also be present and will share a short reflection. The afternoon of organ music and congregational singing begins at 3:00 pm and takes place at Merwedeweg 9, Alblasserdam. Admission is free; a collection will be held at the exit in support of the Organ Fund.
Visitors are warmly welcome.
