Presentation of the completely renewed Johannus Vivaldi

Via a YouTube video, the very latest Vivaldi was presented to the world by Johannus today. Johannus is taking this introduction big with a grand online unveiling and two concerts.

The Vivaldi

Previous models in this series, the Vivaldi 150Vivaldi 250 and Vivaldi 350, are already known as very modern classics from Johannus. The Vivaldi 260 and 360 now promise an even better combination of technology and tradition. HDSS samples recorded from real pipe organs in famous churches, this organ comes even closer to the historical organs than ever before. In addition to the unveiling on YouTube, we will see this during the live demonstrations that Johannus organizes in the form of two concerts.

The latest model

The two different models, the 260 and 360, have the option of 41 or 49 voices. Six different organ styles are included and the organ features an innovative convolution reverb. Designed to feel like an instrument that is always ready to make music, you can be surrounded by the sounds of famous organs at the touch of a button.

Public living room concerts

To celebrate the launch of this organ in style, two public living room concerts will be organised. The first concert will be played by Evert van de Veen and will take place on 15 January at Van Manen Wonen in Barneveld. The second, a concert by André van Vliet, will take place on 22 January at Van Waay Interieurs in Benthuizen. Both concerts will start at 20:00 and will be used to demonstrate this latest model live.

Johannus Vivaldi 260 Organ Light Oak

Vivaldi is Johannus' masterpiece! And this Johannus Vivaldi 260 is the latest generation in this prestigious line. The ultimate combination of technology and tradition offers an unparalleled musical experience. All sounds come from advanced HDSS samples, all recorded from real pipe organs in famous churches. In addition, Vivaldi is a solid instrument that is ready to play immediately! At the touch of a button, the organ is instantly switched on and you can imagine yourself playing historic instruments such as the Vater-Müller organ in Amsterdam.

The HDSS Sampling Technology in the Johannus Vivaldi 260

With the groundbreaking recording technology High Definition Spatial Sampling (HDSS), the Vivaldi organ takes the digital organ experience to an unprecedented level. By using multiple microphones to capture the sound of each individual organ pipe, HDSS not only captures the unique timbres, but also the spatial qualities of the sounds. This results in a full and clear stereo experience that reproduces the liveliness and depth of a traditional pipe organ with incredible realism. As you play, the authentic historical organ sound comes to life and fills your surroundings.

The true-to-life acoustics without any distractions are further enhanced by the six diverse sample banks that the Vivaldi organ has to offer. With this, it literally brings a world of organ sounds within reach. From the warm, symphonic tones of the Marcussen organ in Copenhagen to the bright baroque sounds of the Hinsz organ in Kampen; each style offers a new layer of expression and musicality. The six samples are:

  • Kampen - Netherlands - Bovenkerk - Hinsz - Baroque (North German)
  • Dresden - Germany - Hofkirche - Silbermann - Baroque (South German)
  • Amsterdam - Netherlands - Oude Kerk - Vater-Müller - Dutch-Romantic
  • Copenhagen - Denmark - Helligåndskirken - Marcussen & Søn - French-Symphonic
  • Liverpool - United Kingdom - Mossley Hill Church - Willis & Sons - English-Romantic
  • Miami - United States - Church of the Epiphany - Ruffatti - American-Symphonic

Convolution Reverb

What makes the Vivaldi organ even more unique and impressive is the convolution reverb technology. This technology was developed by experts who visited various churches to capture the natural echoes and spatial resonances. Every note is enriched with the deep sound of a cathedral or the cosy warmth of a small chapel, which you can feel as you play.

Using the Ambience function, you can even choose from four different listening positions, allowing you to experience the reverberation as if you were present at specific locations in the church: at the organ, at the front of the church, in the middle of the church or at the back of the church. This function reinforces the experience of actually playing an impressive pipe organ, without distracting from what really matters: the music itself.
