The Hogscoal Cask is a striking instrument by James Neligan. James Neligan noticed that whiskey makers treated their whiskey crates in the same way as guitar builders treated their soundboxes. For both, the type of wood used is very important, as it can influence the taste or sound. As a result, they came up with the idea to combine these two elements, which led to the creation of the Cask. The instrument has a rectangular shape, similar to whiskey crates, so the vibrations resonate differently than in a rounder shape, like a guitar. The Cask has two small sound holes at the top and a P90 pickup, contributing to a unique sound. The soundbox is made of sapele wood, providing excellent resonance. The neck is crafted from mahogany while the fingerboard is made of walnut, ensuring an authentic playing experience. The Cask features four strings and comes with a carrying bag. Additionally, the instrument is relatively compact, measuring 86 centimeters in total length, making it easily transportable. In summary, a unique instrument at an attractive price!
