The much-praised PSR-S keyboards from Yamaha are taken to a higher level with the introduction of the new PSR-SX models. The Yamaha PSR-SX700 and its bigger brother, the PSR-SX900, are sure to convince many musicians. This new generation of keyboards has been designed to maximise playing feel and enjoyment. The PSR-SX700 can be described as the most affordable mini-Genos currently on the market. High-quality sounds and rhythms, a new intuitive operating system and a wide range of features are all present in this beautiful instrument.

OPERATION AND CONTROL OF THE YAMAHA PSR-SX700

Operation of the new Yamaha PSR-SX700 has advanced significantly. Derived from the Genos, the keyboard features a 7-inch touchscreen display. This directly accessible display makes it easier to gain complete control over the powerful functions the keyboard offers. Your favourite settings can be assigned to the six assignable buttons, live control knobs, pedals or the quick menu, and can be selected easily with a single touch.

The keyboard itself, consisting of 61 keys, has also been completely redesigned by Yamaha. The new FSB keyboard offers remarkably comfortable playability. Key resistance has been slightly increased and the pivot point of the keys has been subtly adjusted. The result is a keyboard that is even more comfortable to play, particularly towards the rear of the keys. To the left of the keyboard, a joystick is fitted for pitch and modulation control.

Next-level sound quality

Although the PSR-SX700 is relatively affordable compared to the SX900 and the Genos, it makes no compromises in terms of quality. The same high-end technologies are used, and combined with Yamaha’s many years of experience this results in an extensive range of voices and styles. The SX700 features 1,625 different voices, all of which sound highly realistic. Particularly noteworthy are the new drums, which have been taken to a much higher level and are derived from the “Revo! Drums” found in the Genos.

With 525 different styles, the keyboard has everything you need on board. New to the PSR-S series is the ability to create even richer and deeper instrumental textures. The keyboard can now be split into four parts: Left, Right?1, Right?2 and Right?3. Naturally, the accompaniment section of the PSR-SX700 is also well represented. 400 different styles, spread across a wide range of genres and each offering multiple variations, provide virtually endless possibilities.
