Taylor 454ce - 12-String

The 400 Series

The 400 series contains utilitarian guitars for different purposes. The series includes several different models with solid Indian rosewood back and sides and solid spruce tops. This is an amazing combination of tonewoods as it produces warm low-end and clear trebles. The mid-tones are more neutral which makes the guitar very suitable to sing along with. The guitars have V-Class bracing, which means that the volume is louder and that it has a longer sustain.

The 454ce

The 454ce is a great twelve-string guitar. The body has a solid spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides, which produces a warm and balanced sound. The guitar has a mahogany neck and an ebony fretboard. The guitar has a Grand Auditorium body, which was designed by Taylor in 1994 and is their most popular model. The Grand Auditorium is a bit smaller than the Dreadnought and a bit bigger than the Grand Concert. This also makes it more versatile, as the Dreadnought was designed for rhythm guitar and the Grand Concert for fingerpicking. The Grand Auditorium is a combination of both. The guitar has ES2 electronics so the amplified sound will sound authentic.

Taylor

Taylor is an American company that was founded in 1974 when two boys bought an old hippie guitar shop. The boys were very passionate about guitars and put a lot of energy into the shop. Eventually, the shop evolved into an international company. All Taylor guitars today are made in either El Cajon in California or Tecate in Mexico. Taylor is very proud of this, because guitars that are produced close to headquarters go through a more thorough quality control process and employee satisfaction is better regulated. Taylor prioritises tone and comfort. All guitars are perfected and with modern luthier techniques the guitars can be made with more precision and consistency.

The Koa Series

There is no tonewood like koa. Koa is a Hawaiian tonewood that was historically used for making canoes. It’s such a unique tonewood because it produces a warm and bright sound which will only improve when the guitar ages. Furthermore, koa is also beautiful which makes it very popular. However, koa is a threatened tonewood, but Taylor can as one of the few companies in the world source it sustainably. Some of the guitars in the series have a spruce top for an even more unique tone. All the guitars have Taylor’s V-Class bracing for a louder volume and a longer sustain.
