Bätz Utrecht sample set updated: even closer to the real instrument

The latest update brings the virtual representation of the Bätz organ in Dom Church, Utrecht even closer to the original instrument. In particular, the spatial rendering and the simulation of the characteristic enclosed tremulants have been further refined, resulting in a more realistic sound and playing experience.

09-2026

Greater immersion in space and acoustics

With an organ, it is not only the instrument itself that shapes the sound, but also the space in which it is housed. For this reason, the spatial rendering of the Bätz Utrecht sample set has been thoroughly reworked. The result is a more natural balance between the organ and the church acoustics, allowing the instrument's distinctive sound to be heard at its best.
For organists, this provides a more convincing impression of how the organ sounds within the Dom Church. Not only are the individual stops clearly audible, but also the way in which the sound moves through the space.

A major step forward in tremulant reproduction

One of the most important improvements concerns the reproduction of the enclosed tremulants. These tremulants influence the organ's wind system and play a significant role in the liveliness and expressiveness of its sound.
In the updated sample set, this interaction has been recreated with much greater accuracy. The result is a more natural sense of movement, closely resembling what organists experience at the console of the original instrument.

A unique development in virtual pipe organs

According to Sweelinq, this level of tremulant realism is unique within the world of virtual pipe organs. The update therefore represents an important step forward in the faithful preservation of historic organs and their distinctive tonal character.
For Sweelinq users, this means an even more authentic playing experience, with both the influence of the acoustic environment and the behaviour of the instrument reproduced with greater precision.

Available now in Sweelinq

The updated Bätz Utrecht sample set is available immediately to all Sweelinq users. If you regularly play historic Dutch organs or are curious to discover just how closely a virtual representation can approach the original, this is an update well worth experiencing for yourself.
