Renewed line from Martin & Co: The Junior Series

An announcement came out from Martin yesterday: the Junior Series has been revamped. For instance, these models have several ergonomic improvements. There are also Martin E1 electronics on all models.

What's new?

These models set a new tone for the Junior Series. These include ergonomic improvements including a thinner fingerboard with a slightly beveled edge and refined string spacings. In addition, a number of models have satin chrome tuners as part of the refreshed looks. All models also feature Martin E1 electronics with a built-in tuner and volume, tone and phase controls to shape your sound.

The wood species

All models have solid spruce or sapele tops and solid sapele sides and backs. Spruce provides a bright and responsive sound with a wide and dynamic range. Its tight, even grain also contributes to good projection and clarity. Sapele is a tropical hardwood, similar to mahogany, with a warm, full sound. This combination creates a versatile line of guitars with a suitable model for every style.

The Junior Series

The Junior Series are smaller versions of Martin's popular Auditorium and Dreadnought models. Designed to go anywhere, anytime, these compact guitars have the same full and powerful sound as the original models. Ideal for the young or travelling guitarist. With Dreadnought, 000 and cutaway options, this updated line ensures that a variety of fits are available.

The new line will soon be playable in our showroom. The earlier models of the Junior Series that we still have in stock will then be discounted. A great opportunity to purchase a nice guitar!

Martin D Jr E - Dreadnought

The Junior Series Refresh

Martin wanted to produce smaller versions of their popular guitars, and that has resulted in this series. The ultimate goal was to produce the guitars in a smaller size without altering the sound and volume of the guitars. Fortunately, they managed to do that with these awesome guitars. Moreover, a smaller size has certain perks: they are often more comfortable to hold in your lap and the necks are easier to play, especially for guitar players with smaller hands. All guitars have solid tops, backs, and sides, which means the sound the guitars produce are as dynamic and authentic as possible. The Refresh models also have an even thinner fretboard with rolled edges so it will be even more comfortable to hold. Furthermore, the Refresh models contain Martin’s E1 electronics which will amplify the acoustic sound as authentically as possible. Consequently, the Junior Refresh guitars are very suitable for live artists.

The D Jr E

The D Jr E is Martin’s Junior version of their famous Dreadnought. The guitar has a solid spruce top and solid sapele back and sides. These are high-quality materials that are very resonant and produce a beautifully bright sound. The guitar has a Richlite fretboard, which is an environmentally friendly material that consists of recycled woodchips and resin. Although it’s a synthetic material, it still plays as nicely as ebony or rosewood. The differences between the three are nearly unnoticeable. Furthermore, Richlite fretboards don’t need to be thoroughly cleaned or conditions. Richlite has already been treated and won’t bend or split. The neck is made of ‘select hardwood’, which means that it’s either made of cedar or mahogany, depending on which of the two Martin can obtain at the time of production without having to participate in deforestation. Both tonewoods are great choices for a guitar neck, and difference between the two is minimal.

Martin

Martin is a reputable American company which has been making guitars for almost 200 years. Throughout the years they have become one of the best when it comes to western guitars. This is because quality is their biggest priority. Consequently, Martin guitars are very popular. There are even many famous guitarists who use Martin guitars, like Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, and David Gilmour. Furthermore, their production process is environmentally friendly. Since the ‘90s they have worked together with the FSC to prevent deforestation. They only use wood from trees that have to be cut down to keep the forest healthy. The other parts of the guitar are recycled, as well. By purchasing a Martin guitar you are thus not only investing in quality, but also the environment.
