Hammond SK PRO 73 - Stage Keyboard  

The SK PRO 73 is a highly professional keyboard from Hammond, available at a very competitive mid-range price. Hammond is an American brand renowned for digitising acoustic keyboard instruments. Hammond was one of the first manufacturers to successfully recreate an organ in digital form, making them true specialists in keyboard design. With this series, Hammond aims to deliver even more authentic sounds and enhanced functionality. This keyboard is also available with 61 keys as the SK PRO 61.

The SK PRO 73 features 73 velocity-sensitive semi-weighted keys, providing an authentic playing experience. This makes the instrument particularly suitable for keyboard players who are accustomed to acoustic instruments. The SK PRO series has been developed with the goal of creating the ultimate stage keyboard. Not only is the keyboard compact, but it is also remarkably lightweight at just 11 kg, making it easy to transport.

 

What further enhances its suitability as a stage keyboard is its exceptional versatility. The SK PRO 73 is equipped with numerous control knobs and drawbars. The instrument offers patches, allowing users to create, store and recall customised sound setups. It can store up to 200 organ patches, 400 piano patches and 200 synthesiser patches. These patches can also be edited, split and layered. Up to 200 of these combinations can be saved for quick access.

 

In addition, a USB memory stick can be connected to expand storage capacity. The SK PRO 73 features a large colour display, making it easy to monitor active functions and make adjustments. The display also remains clearly visible in low-light environments. Furthermore, the keyboard is equipped with pitch bend and modulation wheels, allowing players to shape and morph sounds effortlessly during performances. Switching functions and sounds becomes quick and intuitive, enabling smooth transitions while playing multiple parts simultaneously. Finally, the instrument incorporates four sound engines, which can be used individually or combined for even greater sonic flexibility.

 

The SK PRO 73 offers an extensive range of sounds and tones. A wide selection of sounds is pre-programmed, while users can also add and customise their own. The SK PRO series is designed to recreate authentic acoustic sounds as accurately as possible, and Hammond has achieved this more successfully than ever before.

 

As a result, the instrument delivers a remarkably authentic acoustic grand piano sound, while its tonewheel organ emulation is virtually indistinguishable from the real thing. At the same time, the SK PRO 73 provides a wide variety of electric sounds, including built-in digital pianos and synthesisers. Different sounds and functions can be layered together, allowing players, for example, to combine grand piano and synthesiser sounds simultaneously. Thanks to the intuitive sound selection controls, switching between sounds and functions during a performance is simple and immediate.

The SK PRO 73 offers extensive connectivity options. The instrument includes Hammond’s unique 11-pin Leslie connection (cable not included). It also features both USB-A and USB-B ports, allowing connection to USB storage devices as well as PCs and laptops. In addition, the USB connection can function as a MIDI interface when used with a USB-MIDI cable.

 

The keyboard also includes a headphone output with dedicated volume control. Furthermore, it is equipped with left and right jack outputs for connection to an amplifier or sound system. The SK PRO 73 is therefore an exceptionally versatile keyboard, capable of producing outstanding sounds and highly flexible performance setups.
