The Firkin Cask is an intriguing stringed instrument by James Neligan. The Cask is a combination of authentic whiskey barrels and guitars. James Neligan realized that whiskey makers treated their whiskey crates similarly to how guitar builders treat soundboxes. In fact, the wood used for the crates can influence the taste of the whiskey. As a result, the Cask's soundbox has a rectangular shape, providing different resonance compared to a rounder guitar. Additionally, the Cask has a relatively small sound hole shaped like an ace of spades, which is primarily a fun detail. The soundbox is made of spruce wood, offering good sustain and producing a warm sound. The neck is made of mahogany, while the fingerboard is crafted from rosewood, resulting in an authentic playing experience. The Cask features four strings and comes with a bag. Furthermore, the Cask is reasonably compact, measuring 86 centimeters in total length, making it ideal for transportation. In short, an exciting and eye-catching instrument at a low price!
