Transacoustic

The third generation of Transacoustic pianos combines the worlds of acoustic and digital pianos like never before. Fundamentally an acoustic piano, it can of course be played entirely acoustically, allowing you to fully enjoy the pure, rich sounds of Yamaha’s high-quality instruments. In addition, the piano is equipped with a range of digital features, allowing it to operate in Silent and Hybrid modes.

Hybrid Mode

In Hybrid mode, a Transacoustic piano combines digital sounds with the acoustic elements of the instrument. It allows you both to acoustically mute the piano so that the hammers no longer strike the strings, and to use the piano acoustically to enhance the digital sounds. The digital system uses enhanced foundational sounds derived from the world-famous Yamaha CFX concert grand and the legendary Bösendorfer Imperial grand, each key meticulously recorded at very high quality. These recordings have been processed into the latest samples, which are brought to life by the Transacoustic system through specially designed transducers.

When the acoustic sound is dampened, this system is truly unique because the digital sound is still enhanced by acoustic elements such as the vibration of the soundboard and string resonances. This allows you to play the piano at a lower volume while retaining a lifelike tonal character. For example, you can also play other sounds like a Fender Rhodes with the enhancement of the acoustic elements, resulting in really exciting combinations. Another great option is to play purely acoustically, where the piano is not dampened and can be digitally augmented with, for example, a string orchestra.

Silent Mode

With a Yamaha Transacoustic, you can also play in Silent mode. The acoustic part is muted, and the digital sound can be played through headphones. This is ideal, for example, when one family member wants to watch TV while another wants to play the piano. When wearing headphones, you are fully immersed in the piano thanks to binaural technology. This technology ensures the experience is exactly like sitting at the piano and is therefore incomparable to the usual left-right headphone sound. You can play for hours and enjoy yourself at the piano without disturbing anyone — that’s possible with a Transacoustic!

Touch and Feel

The touch and feel of the Transacoustic is breathtaking in every mode. For the first time, all sensors are completely contactless, so the digital technology has no negative impact on the acoustic playing experience of the piano. Acoustically, it remains truly acoustic without compromise. In Silent mode, the feel of the acoustic action remains, except that the hammer no longer physically strikes the string. The technology is designed so that stopping the hammer happens very subtly, making it unnoticeable to the player. The digital sound is generated by digital sensors, which for the first time are placed under the keys, near the hammers, and at the pedals. This allows for even more precise detection of your playing, enabling greater expressiveness.

App

For the first time, the third generation Transacoustic can wirelessly connect to your smart device via Bluetooth MIDI. The comprehensive Smart Pianist app offers many options for selecting and editing sounds. In addition to Bluetooth MIDI, the piano also supports Bluetooth audio, allowing you to stream music wirelessly through the piano. Thanks to its special transducers, the Transacoustic piano can be used as a high-quality speaker for listening to music

Transacoustic

The third generation of Transacoustic pianos combines the worlds of acoustic and digital pianos more than ever before. A Transacoustic piano is essentially a regular piano that can, of course, be played completely acoustically. This allows you to fully enjoy the pure acoustic sounds of Yamaha's high-quality pianos. The piano is also equipped with numerous digital features, allowing it to be used in Silent mode and Hybrid mode.

Hybrid mode

In hybrid mode, a Transacoustic piano combines digital sounds with the acoustic elements of the piano. It is possible to mute the piano acoustically so that the hammers no longer strike the strings, as well as to use the piano acoustically to amplify the digital sounds. The digital system utilises the enhanced basic sounds from the world-renowned Yamaha CFX grand piano and the legendary Bosendorfer Imperial grand piano, which have been recorded note by note in very high quality.

These recordings have been processed into the latest samples, which are brought to life by the Transacoustic system via specially designed transducers. When the acoustic sound is muted, this system becomes unique, because the digital sound is still amplified by acoustic elements such as the vibration of the soundboard and the string resonances. This makes it possible to play the piano at a lower volume while maintaining a lifelike sound character. It is also possible, for example, to play other sounds such as a Fender Rhodes with amplification of the acoustic elements, leading to some very cool combinations. Another great option is to play purely acoustic piano, where the piano is not muted and can be digitally supplemented with, for example, a string orchestra.

Silent mode

A Yamaha Transacoustic can also be played in silent mode. The acoustic part is blocked and the digital sound can be played through headphones. This is ideal if, for example, one family member wants to watch television and another wants to play the piano. With the headphones on, you are completely immersed in the piano thanks to binaural technology. This technology ensures that the experience is exactly the same as if you were sitting behind the piano and cannot be compared to the normal left-right reproduction of headphones. Play for hours and have fun behind the piano without disturbing anyone with a Transacoustic!

Playing feel

The playing feel of the Transacoustic is breathtaking in every mode. For the first time, all sensors are completely contactless, meaning that the digital technology has no negative impact whatsoever on the acoustic playing feel of the piano. Acoustic is therefore truly acoustic, without compromise. In silent mode, the feel of an acoustic mechanism remains, except that the hammer no longer physically touches the string. The technology is such that the hammer is stopped very subtly, so that you, as the player, do not notice this. The digital sound is generated by digital sensors, which are placed under the keys, near the hammers and near the pedals for the first time. This makes the registration of your playing even more accurate, allowing for even more expressive playing.

App

The third generation Transacoustic can connect wirelessly to your smart device via Bluetooth MIDI connectivity for the first time. The comprehensive Smart Pianist app offers countless possibilities for selecting or editing different sounds. Various built-in functions such as songs, a learning method and even a rhythm section are available. In addition to Bluetooth MIDI, the piano also features Bluetooth audio, allowing you to play music wirelessly through the piano. Thanks to special transducers, the Transacoustic piano can be used as a high-quality speaker for listening to music.
