New Silent and Transacoustic Pianos from Yamaha

Yamaha acoustic pianos are the most sold in number worldwide. This highly successful series of pianos are now all available with the third generation Silent System or Transacoustic System.

An acoustic piano is every pianist's dream, but in home situations there may be times when the sounds of the piano are less appreciated by family members or neighbors. A Silent Piano offers a solution! You can easily switch from pure acoustic playing to piano playing where the sounds sound through your headphones. The hammers of the piano are blocked, causing the acoustic sound to stop and sensors then register the keystroke very accurately. This is converted into high-quality digital sounds and allows you to play the piano at any time! The third generation is again more impressive with improved features.

A Transacoustic Piano goes one step further. These pianos can also be played with headphones, but also via the built-in speaker system at a softer volume via the piano itself. The big advantage is that acoustic properties such as the resonance of the strings and the soundboard are preserved. Digital has never been so real! A true combination of acoustic and digital and therefore labeled as a hybrid piano. The new third generation is impressive with numerous improvements including a Bluetooth function for both controlling smart devices and streaming music via the piano.

Yamaha B2 PE SC3 Silent Piano

The Yamaha B2 SC3 in polished ebony is a new acoustic piano with a built-in Yamaha silent system. A B2 piano is the perfect choice for ambitious but price-conscious musicians. This instrument, part of the well-known B series, comes from the stable of a renowned piano manufacturer. The Yamaha B Series is one of the most affordable new acoustic pianos available. With a fantastic spatial sound and great depth, it is a pleasant instrument that plays smoothly. This B2 with the SC3 Silent System also allows you to play quietly through headphones. Ideal if you want to play the piano at times when your surroundings do not appreciate it. With its beautiful polished ebony cabinet, this piano is also a sight to behold. This piano is also available in polished white.

THE QUALITY OF A YAMAHA B2

When you purchase a Yamaha B2 piano, you are purchasing a piano of Japanese quality. Although assembly is outsourced to factories in Indonesia, this does not compromise the quality in any way. Yamaha's expertise in acoustic pianos, combined with their many years of experience, makes them a very stable player in the piano world, praised for their pleasant, clear sounds. This is partly achieved through the high-quality components made from the best materials. For example, all keyboards are produced in-house from Sitka spruce wood. This wood is dried for six to 24 months and then further acclimatised in computer-controlled ovens.

This treatment ensures that the keys are hardly affected by changes in temperature and humidity. The piano mechanism is also resistant to these conditions thanks to specially developed technologies for drying and gluing maple. The use of aluminium parts also makes the mechanism very stable. In total, the action consists of 5,500 parts, each of which is developed by Yamaha itself. These actions are developed with incredible accuracy. The precision of the holes drilled in the caps is even achieved with an accuracy of 0.05 millimetres. It is therefore not surprising that a Yamaha B2 plays so smoothly!

An important feature of the B2 piano is that, like the B3, it has a solid spruce soundboard. This spruce wood comes from North America, where the temperatures and altitude are ideal for growing high-quality spruce wood. Once the wood has been grown, it is transported to the Yamaha factory in Kitami, Japan. This factory, which specialises in woodworking processes, then manufactures the high-quality soundboards.

More information about the B series

The Yamaha B2 is the middle model of a trio of pianos. With a height of 113 cm, this piano has a solid soundboard that ensures a warm, powerful sound. The taller the piano cabinet, the longer the strings and the larger the soundboard. This has a positive effect on the sound, but it does need to be tailored to the room in which the piano will be placed. In smaller living rooms, a B2 model is the perfect piano if budget is also an important factor. If you are looking for a piano that is just a little more affordable, then you will end up with the Benjamin of the series: the Yamaha B1. With a height of 109 cm and based entirely on all Yamaha principles, it is also an excellent piano. The Yamaha B3 is the most complete model in the series, with a height of 121 centimetres. This height is average for a piano and perfect for placement in medium to larger living rooms. Every Yamaha B piano has its own charms, but one thing is certain: whichever model you choose, you will be amazed by the quality and performance of these pianos. They will guarantee many years of playing pleasure.

Yamaha C1X PE SH3 Silent Vleugel

The Yamaha C1X grand piano is the Benjamin of the highly regarded Yamaha C-Series grand pianos. The legendary Yamaha CFX concert grand is the basis for the current C-Series grand pianos. It is characterized by a clear sound with a clean touch, accompanied by sparkling tones and transparent harmonies. It is not for nothing that a Yamaha grand piano is a welcome guest in concert halls, theaters and conservatories. Yamaha has been manufacturing its C grand pianos for more than half a century, and preserving tradition is not synonymous with refusing to change. The search for perfection continues to evolve step by step, resulting today in a range of instruments with an extremely refined yet powerful sound. With a depth of 161 centimeters, the C1X is the most compact grand piano. Ideal for placement in slightly smaller rooms such as living rooms and small halls.

The origins of Yamaha grand pianos go back to 1902, when Yamaha produced its first grand piano. Starting in 1950, the first C grand piano was developed and from there a tradition was established. In over half a century, the wings have gradually undergone refinement and optimization resulting in the current CX series. Maintaining tradition in this regard is not the same as refusing to change. A constant search for perfection leads to knowledge, techniques and experience that form the basis for the pure sparkling tone and fine playing character of the CX models that transform any room into a concert hall.

About technology

A wing consists of many parts and thousands of components. Describing all the parts and connections piece by piece is impossible but we would like to share some unique points about the CX series. A first point that is an important factor in achieving rich sounds is the support of the instrument. The frame provides stability and takes power and converts it into reverb when pressure is applied to the instrument. By making the frame about 20% thicker than usual, the support improves significantly. This innovation is the first reflection of the newly designed CX series.

The heart of a piano or grand piano is the soundboard which is set in motion by vibration of the strings and generates the sound. Yamaha has an unsurpassed technical ability to ensure that the soundboard always provides excellent projection. Only the finest materials are used in the soundboard assembly and the techniques result in optimal resonance.

The strings are an important part in the creation of the sound. Obviously this is influenced by the tuning with the hammerheads, the soundboard and the construction of the piano but the strings have a profound effect on the timbre and sustain of the grand piano. The CX grand pianos use specially designed strings that produce a rich sound with sparkling high registers and deep-sounding basses where the end result is a solid harmonic sound. Important here are the hammerheads, which unlike many piano builders Yamaha manufactures entirely in-house, leading to improved tonality, springiness and power.

Yamaha B1PE TC3 Transacoustic Piano

The Yamaha B1PE Transacoustic is the introductory piano from a highly renowned piano manufacturer. With over 100 years of experience, Yamaha has established its reputation for excellence. Now, without compromising on sound or quality, they have introduced the affordable B1 model to the market. The quality and reliability of Yamaha pianos are thus made available to a broader audience of pianists. This 109-centimeter-high piano features a beautiful polished ebony cabinet and is not only an excellent instrument but also a true addition to your interior.

Transacoustic

The third generation of Transacoustic pianos combines the worlds of acoustic and digital pianos like never before. Fundamentally an acoustic piano, it can of course be played entirely acoustically, allowing you to fully enjoy the pure, rich sounds of Yamaha’s high-quality instruments. In addition, the piano is equipped with a range of digital features, allowing it to operate in Silent and Hybrid modes.

Hybrid Mode

In Hybrid mode, a Transacoustic piano combines digital sounds with the acoustic elements of the instrument. It allows you both to acoustically mute the piano so that the hammers no longer strike the strings, and to use the piano acoustically to enhance the digital sounds. The digital system uses enhanced foundational sounds derived from the world-famous Yamaha CFX concert grand and the legendary Bösendorfer Imperial grand, each key meticulously recorded at very high quality. These recordings have been processed into the latest samples, which are brought to life by the Transacoustic system through specially designed transducers.

When the acoustic sound is dampened, this system is truly unique because the digital sound is still enhanced by acoustic elements such as the vibration of the soundboard and string resonances. This allows you to play the piano at a lower volume while retaining a lifelike tonal character. For example, you can also play other sounds like a Fender Rhodes with the enhancement of the acoustic elements, resulting in really exciting combinations. Another great option is to play purely acoustically, where the piano is not dampened and can be digitally augmented with, for example, a string orchestra.

Silent Mode

With a Yamaha Transacoustic, you can also play in Silent mode. The acoustic part is muted, and the digital sound can be played through headphones. This is ideal, for example, when one family member wants to watch TV while another wants to play the piano. When wearing headphones, you are fully immersed in the piano thanks to binaural technology. This technology ensures the experience is exactly like sitting at the piano and is therefore incomparable to the usual left-right headphone sound. You can play for hours and enjoy yourself at the piano without disturbing anyone — that’s possible with a Transacoustic!

Touch and Feel

The touch and feel of the Transacoustic is breathtaking in every mode. For the first time, all sensors are completely contactless, so the digital technology has no negative impact on the acoustic playing experience of the piano. Acoustically, it remains truly acoustic without compromise. In Silent mode, the feel of the acoustic action remains, except that the hammer no longer physically strikes the string. The technology is designed so that stopping the hammer happens very subtly, making it unnoticeable to the player. The digital sound is generated by digital sensors, which for the first time are placed under the keys, near the hammers, and at the pedals. This allows for even more precise detection of your playing, enabling greater expressiveness.

App

For the first time, the third generation Transacoustic can wirelessly connect to your smart device via Bluetooth MIDI. The comprehensive Smart Pianist app offers many options for selecting and editing sounds. In addition to Bluetooth MIDI, the piano also supports Bluetooth audio, allowing you to stream music wirelessly through the piano. Thanks to its special transducers, the Transacoustic piano can be used as a high-quality speaker for listening to music

The Yamaha GC1 grand piano is a beautiful grand piano from a series of pianos and grand pianos by the renowned Yamaha. Worldwide the grand pianos are known for their rich tonal character. This model is derived from the much coveted C1X grand piano but with cost-saving advantages in materials and production. Resulting in an exceptionally expressive instrument that is unusually affordable. With a reasonable size of 161 centimeters still perfect for placement in your living room but also suitable for placement in public spaces such as schools, music schools and smaller churches.

Yamaha has over a century of experience in developing and producing grand pianos. Unparalleled beauty and musical range allow pianists to present the ultimate expression of art. State-of-the-art acoustic and technological developments reflect the absolute quality of a Yamaha instrument. Built with extraordinary care and integrity, the instruments are highly reliable and durable. Known for their eloquently expressive yet clear sound, you will achieve maximum performance with a Yamaha. Not for nothing is this grand piano often recommended by piano tuners and is a leading choice of pianists of all levels worldwide.

Transacoustic
The third generation of Transacoustic pianos combines the worlds of an acoustic and digital piano even more than ever before. A transacoustic piano is basically a regular piano on which, of course, fully acoustic playing is possible. So you can fully enjoy the pure acoustic sounds of Yamaha's high-quality pianos. Furthermore, the piano is equipped with numerous digital features that allow the piano to be used in Silent mode and in Hybrid mode.

Hybrid mode

In hybrid mode, a Transacoustic piano combines digital sounds with the acoustic elements of the piano. It is possible both to mute the piano acoustically so that the hammers no longer touch the strings, as well as to actually use the piano acoustically to enhance the digital sounds. The digital system uses the improved basic sounds from the world-famous Yamaha CFX grand piano and the legendary Bosendörfer Imperial grand piano, which are recorded key by key at the highest quality. These recordings have been processed into the current latest samples that the Transacoustic system brings to life via specially designed transducers. If the acoustic sound is muted then this system becomes unique, as the digital sound is still amplified by acoustic elements such as the vibration of the vocal floor and string resonances. This makes it possible to play the piano at a lower volume while maintaining a lifelike sound character. What is also possible, for example, is to play other sounds such as a Fender Roads with amplification of the acoustic elements leading to very cool combinations. Another crazy option is to play purely acoustic piano where the piano is not muted and this can be further digitally supplemented with, for example, a string orchestra.

Silent mode

A Yamaha Transacoustic can also be played in silent mode. The acoustic part is blocked and the digital sound can be played over the headphones. Ideal if, for example, one family member wants to watch television and another wants to play the piano. With the headphones on, you are completely absorbed into the piano because of the binaural technology. This technology ensures that the experience is exactly the same as if you were sitting behind the piano and is therefore unlike the normal left-right reproduction of headphones. Playing for hours and having fun behind the piano without disturbing anyone, that is possible with a Transacoustic!

Playing feel

The playing feel of the Transacoustic is breathtaking in every mode. For the first time ever, all sensors are completely non-contact, so the digital technology does not have any negative influence on the acoustic playing character of the piano. Thus, acoustic is really acoustic without compromise. In silent mode, the feeling of an acoustic action remains except that the hammer no longer physically touches the string. The technology is such that the stopping of the hammer happens very subtly so that as a player you do not notice this. The digital sound is generated by digital sensors, placed for the first time under the keys, at the hammers and at the pedals. This makes the registration of your playing even more precise allowing for even more expressive playing.

App

For the first time, the third-generation Transacoustic can connect wirelessly to your smart device via Bluetooth midi connectivity. Yamaha C1X TA3 Transacoustic Vleugel

The Yamaha C1X grand piano is the benjamin of the very highly regarded Yamaha C-Series grand pianos. The legendary Yamaha CFX concert grand piano is the basis for the current C-Series grand pianos. Characteristic is the clear sound with a clean touch accompanied by sparkling tones and transparent harmonies. Not for nothing is a Yamaha grand piano often seen in concert halls, theaters and conservatories. Yamaha has been producing their C grand pianos for more than half a century and maintaining tradition is not the same as refusing to change. The quest for perfection continues to evolve gradually which anno now leads to a series of instruments with highly refined yet powerful tone. With a depth of 161 centimeters, the C1X is the most compact grand piano. Ideal for placement in locations slightly smaller such as living rooms and small halls.

Hybride modus

In hybrid mode, a Transacoustic piano combines digital sounds with the acoustic elements of the piano. It is possible both to mute the piano acoustically so that the hammers no longer touch the strings as well as to actually use the piano acoustically to enhance the digital sounds.

Silent modus

A Yamaha Transacoustic can also be played in silent mode. The acoustic part is blocked and the digital sound can be played over headphones.

Playing feeling

The playing feel of the Transacoustic is breathtaking in every mode. In fact, for the first time, all sensors are completely non-contact, which means that the digital technology has no negative influences whatsoever on the acoustic playing character of the piano.

The comprehensive Smart Pianist app gives numerous options for selecting or editing different sounds. Various built-in features such as songs, a teaching method and even a rhythm section are available. In addition to Bluetooth midi, the piano also features Bluetooth audio, which allows you to play music wirelessly over the piano. Through the special transducers, the Transacoustic piano can be used as a high-quality speaker to listen to music through.
